For a long time I've wanted to paint my garage floor with Epoxy paint. The stuff is bomb proof, makes messes easy to clean up and looks great.

After scoring a nice plump Lowe's gift certificate for Christmas I picked my supplies yesterday. The paint kit I'm using is the Quickrete Garage Floor Coating.

In addition I bought some MetroCart, knock off racking, and the RubberMaid Fast Track Organization System.

My plan to finally have a well thought out, fully organized garage, that can house two cars, and two bikes. I'm afraid my trailer will have to live outside.

So far the floor is totally clear except for the bikes; it's been scraped of funk, and tonight I'll acid prep the concrete.
 
Well done! I used the same kit nearly 10 years ago and it's still looking pretty good.
 
Painting the garage floor was a nice project. I had to do half at a time. I moved all the ahem crap from one side to the other then painted it and reversed the process for the other side. 4 years later it looks pretty good but I am pretty tough on the floor. Would consider repainting it in a few more years
 
Nice, but I used RaceDeck flooring about 4 years ago....still looking good. Just another option:

I'm going to do something like that to my garage, but I have to wait until my roommate moves and gets all his crap out of the garage, and I want to wait until it isn't so cold outside.

Hey David - The total cost of supplies and paint is about $200. I bought two paint kits at $65 ea, then rollers, tape, etc.

I'm considering added and second coat of clear epoxy over this. It just adds another layer and is high gloss. If I do thisit will add another $140 to the project.

This morning it is pretty much dry. I'll wait until this afternoon before I walk on it.

The Racedeck is very nice too. I considered that option but I wanted to be able to hose the whole garage out if I need to. No that you can't with Racedeck but it is another layer to dry out.

Thanks Nate. They have about 30 different colors to choose from. I was going to do gray, Rachelle insisted on the blue. They have a really cool looking, deep red, almost maroon color, looks great.
 
Well I decided to added the clear coat. One more trip to Lowe's and I picked up the Quikcrete Two Part Epoxy Clear Coat, $69.95. One kit does about 400 to 500 sqft if the floor is painted already, 250 if not, so I only needed one kit. This was very easy, mixed part 1 with part 2, let sit for 30 minutes, add plastic grit stuff for traction. It took about an hour to roll on.

The clear is thinner than the paint rolls on fast. It is also white when wet so it is very easy to see what you've missed. I worked in larger squares as I didn't have to sprinkle the flakes on, about 4X6 feet. I used a nice thick coat and made sure the squares overlapped. I had exactly enough paint for the garage floor and the apron, I didn't paint the wall area.

Should be walkable in about 24 hours.
