Galfer? (galfer responds)

I installed my Galfer lines less than 2 weeks ago and I already have rusting around the bolts and lines. Has anyone else seen this? I'm about to shoot Galfer a email. Even if the bike were stored outdoors a week and a half is simply stupid to find rust. What happened to stainless steel? I do ride in alot of rain, but i'm turely suprised at this.

Man that is just stupid! The braking power with the new lines and pad is insane, but I want looks as well. What gives?

This is going to be an expensive off season for me. So many mods to do.
Based on this I think I might spring for the aluminum fittings.

I have them bought last year, ride in the rain all the time and no rust. I would contact Galfer and ask whats up. I bet they changed suppliers or they are being sold inferior product.

They cant want a bunch of pissed off people on motorcycle forums saying their stuff is rusting.

I mean if I had seen that photo before I bought I wouldnt buy them. Mine dont rust so something has changed.

I would have thought that the fittings would have been SS to begin with. I've always used Russel's in the past and never had any rust issues. I was disappointed when I saw the rust. I now is steel wool to keep them clean.

I beginning to prep my bike for the track and I'm hesitant to drill them for safety wire. I can see a hole in the banjo bolt causing a bigger issue than just surface rust.

Here is the email I just received.

We have not received any pictures, sorry.
We will (if we can get these other lines) replace these hoses under our lifetime warranty.
The banjos are stainless steel, but sometimes the chrome coating they get makes if not impregnated correctly, makes the banjo get al rusty looking.
Please send us a picture of the hose and we will make sure to take care of the issue right away.

OK they are sending me a new set of lines(as soon as they get mine). If these new lines rust I will send them back for a new pair and sell them. Here is their last responce.

We looked at your lines and we see that they are rusted. These are the front
lines correct? We will send you a call tag to get your lines back and when
we get those we will send you out a new set of lines. Please reply back with
a contact number and the address that we can send the lines to. Also, I can
send the call tag by regular mail or email. If I send it to you by email,
you would get the call tag by today after 4:30pm PST. Let me know what you

good customer service at least,,,as mentioned earlier they wouldnt want the word spread around the forums,,,it probably was a bad apple and hopefully the new ones wont get rusted...good luck!!

That still sucks. Now you have to take the old ones off and either wait for the new ones to arrive or remount your old ones and then do it all again when the new lines show up. That's a hell of a lot of work for a f'd up part. Personally, I'd think real hard about getting a different brand.

They are sending a UPS call TSH, so I dont have to pay anything. The only thing that sucks is pulling the lines and putting the stock lines back on.

Well, it's great that Galfer responded and is dealing with it, but imho they should have sent you the new lines first so that you could have simply swapped them out for the defective ones. Not a lot of trust there....

Hmm...I'm a little confused here. Either the fittings are stainless steel or they're chrome plated....not both.

I sent them another email asking if these new lines would be made form the same material that these were. I told them I'm not interested in wasting my time if the new ones are going to rust in under two weeks. These things make a huge improvement in braking, but there are other companies out there. With Hellgates rusting like mine are, I doubt anything is going to have changed. We will see....

I agree. They are not in the same league as Russel at all. The performance in braking is very, very good however. I'll take some photos and see if I can get a new set too.
