In my neck of the woods that is called BullSh*t and I would make sure he knew it.

On the old style batteries that came dry you needed to add the electrolyte to a specific level and then charge for a bit or they would be for crap. Closing up the caps too soon really had nothing to do with it unless that battery was over charged when the caps were put on as the gases being expelled would drain the battery as good as any short.

If it is brand new, I think I would talk the the dealership. Your battery should last at least a year before needing a replacement!

I would expect at least 3 years from the stock battery before replacement....:thumbup:
