FZ6 Fazer 600 knocking sound

Hi all, I'm new to this Forum and although this has already been discussed I think mine maybe slightly different.

Knocking only appears when engine warm.
Knocking is only noticeable on deceleration.
Knocking cannot be heard when clutch lever pulled in.
The knocking doesn't increase or decrease either, it's the same tempo and only appears say below 40mph on deceleration.
Tonight I will try to record the sound and post up.

I've just had the air box lid off. Started her up and strangely no knocking. Put lid back on and the knocking comes back

Sounds very odd, an audio / video would definitly help.

Can you try and pinpoint down what side of the engine/ area its coming from? A screwdriver with the handle to your ear is usually useful...

Sounds like a bunch of different noises coming from there. Sounded like something loose, and then others....

You mentioned the noise goes away with the clutch lever pulled in?? Is that ALL the time??

Is the clutch dragging at all, very recently, like bad cable stretch all of a sudden?

When listening again with your screwdriver, concentrate on the clutch cover. If the noise is going away ALL THE TIME when you pull the clutch in, it may very well be the clutch. Any other irregularities with the clutch, slipping, etc (out of the norm?

So in the OP it implies "Knocking is only noticeable on deceleration." Are you saying riding speed or ANY Engine deceleration?

Agreed - seems to be several sounds in there and its inconclusive for me. I wouldn't hesitate to open the oil filter and inspect the pleats for material. Its quick, easy, and tells a story of truth with facts. Is there some kind of "abnormal contact" making metal inside the engine!

Yes, us the aid of listening device to narrow down 'where' the noise is coming from and let us know.
