FZ6 classification change on State Farm

Dairyland here too... hey LERecords, may I ask what your rate is? Think mines about 50 bucks a month... so 300 for 6 months. that's for max coverage though. Kinda sucks, but i had to do that because I have an umbrella policy and they require that all motor insurance coverage is maxed out.

Off topic, just wanted to mention that your avatar is great  I had the same one a few months ago.

wow your insurance hike has been painfully steep! :P

Pity you dont face paying my rate of insurance, 882 dollars per year...with 3 years NCB and a licence held for 4 years!

But saying that, to increase your premium just because of a letter being included in the name is petty...they should already know what bike your riding before agreeing to cover you so you should take it up with them.

i only have comp, i dont ride enough miles, or leave my bike left in any parking lots. I pay $350 a year, they wanted $1600 for collision, im only home 4 months in the summer to ride my bike.... didnt see the point.

collision is for if you/someone else kills the bike. Its important to have especially if you still have a loan on the bike. If you do get into an accident and dont have colision, they dont pay you what the bike is worth.. chance you take man.. I have dairy land insurance and for like $550 a year it includes comp and colision with full coverage. might want to look into changing your insurance company..

I was paying about $33. a month for the FZ6(before I killed it) through state farm.
That was as much as I could get.
I am over 25, have had a couple wrecks, no tickets though.

Mine has always been listed as a FZ6S. My insurance went down, from $247.53 a year to $122.40 a year, full coverage!:cheer:

Allstate tried to charge me close to $2400 for my fizzer when I bought it back in July. The best rates and coverage I could find were with Country, I pay about $115 a month and it includes renters insurance for my house up to $20k.

Anyone looking for new insurance I recommend Country. I used to be covered by Allstate on my old bike but they tried to take me for a ride when I bought my new one.

Try State Farm, you will be surprised how cheap it is.

Still jealous of you guys . . . I pay $115 MONTHLY for the FZ6! Blame all the uninsured motorists here in FL (the Allstate agent said something like 40% of vehicles are uninsured!).

Flamewulfe:

I presume you're insured by Allstate. They quoted me me a figure in excess of $900 per year in MI (for an FZ). Progressive costs about $540 for greater coverage. Try shopping around. I realize you're in a different state, but you may be able to do much better than $1,380 per year!

Uninsured/Underinsured motorist/Uninsured property damage

If your insurance company offers this coverage, GET IT.
It will save your ass one day, especially if you live in California or Florida(lots of uninsured)
I speak from experience, unfortunately.

It will also cover hit and runs.

I did some research today on insurance rates for an '07 FZ. My relevant info is that I'm 33 with no accidents or tickets, but only have 1 year of riding experience and live in San Diego, where bike theft is a problem. The coverage amounts were:
Deductible: $500
Bodily injury: 25k/50k/15k
Uninsured: 15k/30k/35k
Medical Payment Coverage: 1k

Progressive: $2,333 per year.
McGraw: $618 per year.

Shop around! At the same time, realize that different companies are harder or easier to work with if you are in an accident. Ask other riders about their experiences with the various companies.

5 State Automobile Mutual Insurance Co.
6 USAA Casualty Insurance Co.
7 State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Co.
8 State Farm Fire and Casualty Co.
9 Hartford Underwriters Insurance Co.
10 Erie Insurance Co.
11 Erie Insurance Exchange
12 GEICO General Insurance Co.
13 California State Automobile Assn.
14 Nationwide Mutual Insurance Co.
15 Safeco Insurance Co. of America
16 American Family Mutual Insurance Co.
17 Nationwide Mutual Fire Insurance Co.
18 Allstate Insurance Co.
19 21st Century Insurance Co.
20 Hartford Insurance Co. of the Midwest
21 GEICO Casualty Co.
22 Liberty Mutual Insurance Co.
23 Metropolitan Property and Casualty Insurance Co.
24 Travelers Indemnity Co.
25 Farmers Insurance Exchange
26 Commerce Insurance Co.
27 Mercury Insurance Co.

location has alot to do with your rates. It is partly about youth, partly how long you have had your license/bike, partly about location and yes, your credit score.

My wife works in insurance, and we get no deals either. I started my first year of the FZ at $1250. My second year (this one) I dropped to $750. Its with progressive and I get a 10% discount because i pay in full. Of course thats on a credit card so ultimately I lose :)

 for McGraw, been saving money with them for 5 years.

When I called for my quote from state farm, they called it an FZ6S... Still only paying 1200 a year with my intermediate license and this is my "first year riding" in quotes because I've been racing MX for a few.
