Recently I was surprised to see an increase in my biannual state farm insurance from $224 to $236. I wondered if the bike got older and depreciated in price, my flawless driving record increased in duration, then why the hell the insurance rate went up. Then I realized that the name of the bike changed from FZ6 to FZ6S. Is this something to do with the FZ6R being out and they recognizing the FZ6 as a true sportbike or something. Didn't care to call their customer care yet but maybe I will.

i figured that it was a name change. i have dairy land insurance and wonder if my rates will change too???? guess i should call soon aand find out..

Mine went up a hair as well I think. I received some letter from SF shortly before my bill explaining how it was mandatory to have uninsured driver clauses or something in your policy. I attributed the change in rate to that. Altho, I may be all wet on this one. I am in GA so what they have to do here may not be the same as in TN.

I just talked to my agent and she said she hasn't seen anyone else's rates go up.. wonder if its just state farm.. ill know in april when i get my bill though :(

Still jealous of you guys . . . I pay $115 MONTHLY for the FZ6! Blame all the uninsured motorists here in FL (the Allstate agent said something like 40% of vehicles are uninsured!).

 that comes up to $1380 a year, I pay $250 a year with Pacific Specialty Insurance here in California, and that's for full coverage.

Dairyland here too... hey LERecords, may I ask what your rate is? Think mines about 50 bucks a month... so 300 for 6 months. that's for max coverage though. Kinda sucks, but i had to do that because I have an umbrella policy and they require that all motor insurance coverage is maxed out.

Yeah, my coverage is $1000 deductible for both comp/collision, decent limits on BI, property, etc, part of the reason for the high rates is also my age (turned 25 in October), and my 'Insurance Credit Rate', which sounds suspiciously like a credit check to me . . . I'm a 3 out of 5, 5 being the worst. A good buddy of mine that's a year younger is a 1 out of 5, and he pays half the amount I pay . . . keep in mind, I've never been in any accidents, gotten any tickets, or missed any payments on ANYTHING . . . so I'm very puzzled why this 'Insurance Credit Rate' is only midgrade for me, much better for him . . .

The insurance industry is the biggest scam ever.

They discriminate based on age and gender, regardless of driving history, and it's government mandated to have insurance, and they get away with it.

I'm a young male so I pay out the ass, thanks america! $80/month without collision(with comp and uninsured coverage), with collision it would've been twice that!

i think its around like $550 for the year.. not 100% on that though, but i think thats what ive paid for the last 3 years.. ill let you know what it is when i get the new bill :(

State Farm? Dairyland? Maybe if you weren't being penalised due to reckless tractor drivers your premiums would be less :)

I pay about $60 a month here for mine, fully comprehensive. Incidentally that is almost double the premium on my wife's BMW.

This thread reminded me, I need to cancel my Geico policy and start the Progressive one.

Do you mean you have the Uninsured Motorist coverage also?

I pay around $600 to $650 for 250/500/10 with Comp/Collision and $500 deductible here in Orlando, FL. But if I added the UM coverage it goes up by over $1,000? So I don't have UM. I also have a clean recorded and good credit score. (Don't ask me why the credit score matters, but it does.)

So, I'm curious if you have UM? (Oh, btw I have Progressive Insurance.)
