Maybe this is isn't worth posting, but there's a fresh article on the FZ-09 in the latest CW and it's a pretty informative read.

Evidently Kevin Cameron is of the opinion that "...the chassis attaches to the forward-inclined cylinder head via four "spider legs." The lateral flex of this kind of structure gives MotoGP bikes superior front end feel, handy for warning when the front tire is nearing its limit."

This is just one example of MotoGP "trickle down tecnology," in his opinion.

The lateral flex thing is cool because I was unaware of it. My assumption is that some lateral flex in the chassis serves to act a suspension system of sorts when the bike is leaned over. Don't forget that 1 inch of bump translates into 2 inches of fork travel at 60 degree lean.
