In 1983, they did a complete remake from the '82 Nighthawk, which had a chain drive and a big bulky engine.
The new design had a compact engine, maintenance-free components, and a driveshaft instead of a chain.
And this was a long driveshaft, as compared to other bikes.. There was virtually no torque reaction.
I remember it being one of the first bikes to have anti-dive control in the forks too.
The seat was extremely comfortable for all day riding. All of this for a mere $2400 out the door :cheer:
