Fork sliders for R6S forks???

First, let me state flatly...I'm asking about fork sliders for R6(S) FORKS, not FZ6 forks. I did the conversion about 3 years ago, so telling me what fork sliders work for FZ6 forks won't help as the axle is completely different.

Whew...lol...now that I've got that out of the way, does anyone out there who's done the R6 fork conversion know of anyone who makes fork sliders that work? I've searched high and low and haven't been able to find someone who makes them, someone who sells them, or even a thread on here about them.

Because the R6(S) axle is a rod with a nut that screws into it at the end, I'm not even sure it's possible. But if someone knows of the existence of these types of sliders, I'd sure appreciate a heads-up!

I'm afraid I'm not going to be a tremendous amount of help, but I'm going to toss some info your way.

I shared some messages with a gent selling a FZ and he had done the fork conversion and I noticed sliders in the pic. He told me the sliders came with a drilled nut?

I just remembered where I talked to him I'll shoot you a PM with his ebay ID.

Hello. Are you talking about the full tube and slider tube installation? If so I just did one on my 2005 fZ6. The axle width was 4mm difference on each side requiring a spacer of that width installed on each end of the original axle spacers. I took the spacers that came with the axle and fork and machined them down so they would fit the space left between the spacers that came on my original wheel. It did come with a axle that has a nut on one end and 19mm allen on the other, but that installs easily.

As well the brakes mounts are different as well, so had to purchase the brakes that come on that years fork as well, and space them accordingly. All in all it turned out very well after a brake bleed and some minor brake spacing adjustments.

Scottn, you're referring to the SPACERS that are required when you're doing the R6 forks conversion. As previously stated, I did the conversion 3 years ago (ergo, I have the spacers). I'm talking about fork SLIDERS (like frame sliders, only they go on each end of the front axle.)

I'd like to add swing arm sliders as well, but obviously those are easy to find since I've still got a FZ6 swing arm. What I'm concerned with are the fork sliders for the R6(S) forks.

*edit* paulinus, your comment about a "drilled nut" sparked a memory of something, so I had to figure out where I'd seen it. Turns out, RhinoMoto where I got my bar ends for my CRG mirrors, also has fork sliders. In the listing for the R6, it mentions that they sell a OEM "drilled nut" for the end of the axle to accept the sliders. BRILLIANT! I knew I'd seen something like that before, but I couldn't remember where.

I'm gonna shoot them an email and find out if these will work with the R6(S). I'm fairly certain they will. I'd also like to see if they could tell me how the other side mounts, the left side where there's just a big opening in the end of the axle? Hopefully it's not too much trouble.

I'll let you know what I find out.

Rock on I have my forks, axle, and spacers. I just have to get off my 'dead ass' (as my dad so eloquently puts it) and do the job. I want sliders once I get the job done. I just can't get my head around how I'm going to support the bike when I do it.

Signal 50, YOU ARE THE MAN! I see what they did there. Even though those are the USD forks, the kit comes with the bolt that's got a hole in it so the rod can slide through! Awesome!

And I've never noticed that my R6S axle had that little rubber plug in it, but I'll definitely be looking tomorrow.

Sweet. So fork sliders (with that "pass through" bolt) should work on the R6S forks. NICE.
