Hi all,

I want to fit new silencers to my FZ6 S2 2008, will i need to get a heat shield? the oem one has a heat sheild slip on.

Next, pick whatever system you like the best, not heat problems at all. On an 80 degree day I could hop off my bike and touch my Akrapovic mufflers with a bare hand. They were very warm but not hot.

The tip of left can (from the back) of my stainless scorpions would likely burn you if you grabbed it immediately after a ride, but I feel the whole thing runs cooler than what the stock muffler did. This is because the seat doesn't get as hot, etc.

So, no, you shouldn't need an extra heat shield. The stock muffler is more restrictive, or holds the exhaust gasses longer than aftermarket cans, allowing it to soak up more heat, hence the heat shield.

no heat shield necessary on the aftermarket, they run much much cooler. Most can grab the side of the cans after running the bike without issue,

That depence what sort of ekshaust you go for, som`s equal? as the stock, and some you have to start with " art`s and craft" to make them fit. opcorn:
