Fatal Deer accident

This is a story that ran in our local paper this week. It is not about bikes but about cars. It just goes to show that hitting a deer is really bad news and you should keep a very sharp eye out for them.

A 52 year old woman was driving her new model Fiat 500 n the direction of Over Jerstel, which is about 10 miles from my house. Another driver was approaching her from the opposite direction. Both vehicles were estimated to be travelling about 50mph.

A deer jumped out into the path of the oncoming vehicle almost as the two cars were passing each other. The impact of the oncoming car, knocked the deer into the path of the Fiat 500 where it then went through the windscreen, killing the woman on the way and exited out of the rear window.

Sometimes lady luck just runs against you. But just be careful out there.

Hearing this story has certainly taken a few miles an hour out of my tyres over the last few days as we have a lot of wild animals where I live.

deer are something we deal with all the time here in nh. my parents and brother were on their way to dinner one night when i was young (i was babysitting with a friend) when the lady inf ront of them on the highway hit a deer. she went sideways across both lanes and my parents plowed right into her at highway speed (60-70mph, i assume dad hit the brakes as soon as he could, but it didnt do much good). after they came to a stop, their car was rearended by an 18-wheeler. fortunately the only fatality was the deer adn the two cars, but the first lady was in the hospital for months and my parents are still dealing with their injuries (back and ribs). my bro got lucky, only a broken nose....

Deer scare me. A friend of mine at work was actually broadsided by a deer while on the way to work on his R6. Totaled the bike, but thankfully not him! Has anyone else ever seen the "Lil' Mad Cow" video with the deer crash? Scary stuff!

Deers ... I HATE deers! Especially since July 08 where a deer run in my TRX850 with 100km/h = 62 miles/h. I didn't had any chance to even put my hands on the breake, just saw it and 500ms later I was flying. Was lucky that no traffic was before/behind me while this crash.
Well, on the other side it's the cause I now have a FZ6.
But well, even with this fact I would avoid it if I could ...
