I have a 2009 FZ6. My owners manual has FZS6Y(C) on the front cover.
This doesn't seem to match any of the model numbers on parts vendor websites.
How do I determine exactly which model I have?

How are you seeing it listed? I've either seen it listed generically as 2009 FZ6 or sometimes, like on ronayers.com, as something like FZS6YL.

FZS6 = [American?] model number

W = 2007
X = 2008
Y = 2009

C = California emissions

B = black (08-09)
L = blue (07-09)
R = red (07)

My 2009, blue, non-California model would be FZS6YL, for example.

The Owner's Manual, page 10-2, also mentions a model number sticker under the seat on the frame, but I've not see it used anywhere. Mine reads "4S8D-010 / B". No idea what all that stands for.

The listings on BikeBandit.com mostly: Yamaha/Street/2009.
Maybe they tag on all those color codes. I'll check it out again.

I didn't know my FZ6 was a California model. As far as I know it was bought new in Illinois.
Thanks

Don't be confused just because the (C) is printed on the manual cover. I very much doubt yours is the California model. My manual has that, too. It's a 50-state manual. ;)

I see "FZ6 (Dark Purplish Blue Metallic X) FZ6S6YL" and the other permutations listed on the bikebandit.com OEM Parts search widget, so hopefully you're good to go.

Bike Bandit doesn't seem to display the Yamaha part number, which I don't care for. I like getting that from ronayers.com or wherever (e.g., 5VX-83371-01-00 for the horn) then using that to search the web for the best deal.
