When I've completed that, I'll start on my thread

Everything has been ordered... some things are taking absurd amounts of time to get here tho.

Ordered some bolts to use from Pro Italia ... a day or two later they happily informed me that they don't have the parts and they should arrive in 10-15 working days... whereupon they'll ship them to me... so add another 5-10 working days dependent on how much fun USPS gives me...

In short... not on hold... just impatiently waiting!

Plenty of time in the interim to do the Morrimoto install tho.

Unboxed the 848 carbon headlight cowl today... boy, that thing sure is a big piece haha! No matter how it is mounted, I think it is going to need some trimming down to size so it doesn't look ridiculous.

I haven't got it home yet, went to look at it on my bike at my folks place... will cage over on the weekend and bring it back then... I'll pull the front headlight off and get some plastic ties... and see what it looks like... the fairing stay might arrive by then too since it's finally left USA :cheer:

Shame about all the bolts... still on order... :Flip: :spank:

Maybe by christmas I'll have this finished haha

Hazzah, Fairing stay arrived today... read a fair few complaints about it being heavy in ebay. Well yes, it is 100grams or so more than a OEM one... but then it's probably nowhere near as fragile and an umpteenth the price... some people really need to read the descriptions of things before they purchase them

Looks and feels fine to me, aside from the goldish colour to it... which will have to be rectified :thumbup:

Anyway just a couple of snaps of it... will put the CF fairing on it on sunday and see what it looks like on the bike... more pics incoming sunday :Flash:

No word on the bolts etc from ducati yet tho.



Still pondering whether or not to use the Ducati style mirror/indicators as pictured below... Means having a bigger CF fairing to block off the paths for the indicator cables however... and possibly requiring me to buy a screen...

So, ripped the headlight off, mounted the CF fairing on the stay and the light... fitment around the light is a little dubious... sigh. Not sure if this is due to aftermarket headlight stay, aftermarket CF fairing or combination of the two... either way not much can do about it....

Placing the fairing stay near the bike... it's clear that it needs a good 5 inches or so cut off it, stuck out way too far ...

Additionally the screws provided for the mirrors wouldn't go thru the fairing and the stay... so couldn't put those on to see what they'd look like - off to a hardware store tomorrow to find something to replace them.

So more photoshopping and looking at the bike to come tomorrow... might also put the headlight on without any faring and compare that too. Hopefully I like the fairing more otherwise what a waste of time haha :thumbup:

That carbon fibre fairing is too beautifull to not use it!!

I might know another configuration that might look sweet on your bike :cheer: If you can give me both sets of pictured I could give it z go
What I can tell, is that you will have problems to clear hour handlebar and controls...
Maybe clipons will do the trick

Yeah, I'll see if I cannot get you a decent shot... but basically the issue is the top of the light gets stuck a bit behind the fairing, doesn't sorta pop into place like the bottom does. Even without having the fairing stay... so I guess it's more an issue with the CF... will go pull it apart and take some photos now.

The fairing clears the handlebars without issue, it's the bottom of the fairing that needs clipping, if mounted to turn with the bars... even if it isn't it looks odd without cutting it back. Well it does when the light is mounted as high as it is in the pic above.

It's dark now so no more bike pics today... need to get the screws for the mirrors too, want to see what they look like on the bike.

I don't mind the side profile of third image... well third shot in the one image

I'd bet those Cf parts would sell really fast, since Ducati owners all modify their bikes
And you're located in AUS, so the parts would be "local" for all the duc riders over there :thumbup:

I have tried pushing it in differently.. stretching it a bit... it does have some flex haven't had much luck with that... guess I'll go try try try again.

Will try to avoid shaving it, as I don't have the correct tools for that... :ban: guess I could get some - I do need/want them!

Essentially the bolts provided are too short to start gripping the thread in the actual mirrors... the mirror threading doesn't start for about 4-5mm inside the mirror... the bolts are about 8mm in thread length... and the fairing stay + CF and rubber seal thickness is about.... 8mm or near enough haha... doesn't even get close to gripping. Besides, you'd want more than half a twist anyway... that'd be asking for trouble

Just remembered another issue with fixed headlight, the speedometer cluster etc.
That turns with the forks... and will possibly hit the fairing/light... so that will also need to be dismounted and attached to the fairing stay.

Welp I shot you thru a tonne of pics in pm Degake, hopefully got whatever you wanted covered there

Starting to think the ducati fairing stay needs some severe chopping to be decent in any regards, it's just too large. I know you think it should be so it's mounted to the frame rather than the forks... but I'm not convinved haha. It'll stick out too far and look really odd from side on without fairing rising up to meet it on the sides... massive overhang.

Anyway took some additional photos this afternoon and trimmed the fairing down to where I'd like to "possibly" see it... in one pic you can see the fairing stay intruding ... chopped it from the next, looks so much nicer in my opinion... if you cannot see it.

Anyway...






Oh and far more importantly... had a letter in the mail today with the following contents:

To be honest tho, I've really had no issues with the stock speedo cluster, not sure why anyone would upgrade for that kinda money.
It offers a different style, one that I'm not 100% sold on looking much better...

Offers some additional features such as a shift light? I wont need that commuting

Now if I could take it apart and customise the tacho background, maybe then I'd consider it... perhaps it's time to google...

You wouldn't want to rush everything and have it falling apart when doing some high(er) speeds

You also have a RX2-n, which is a newer version of the RX2 (though with a bit "rounder" design)
