I had to take off on my trip before I was able to hook up a fuse box for a 12v outlet for cell phone. (I did get the Stebel horn installed BLAM!!)
What actually worked out quite well was a portable battery charger I bought for long trips to charge my iPad and iPhone. This isn't mine but you'll get the idea:

I just put the iPhone in the GPS holder on the handlebars, put the battery pack in the tank bag and plug in the iPhone cable. The tank bag has a side access for wires so it worked great. I ran it the entire trip and the battery pack was down to 86% when I arrived, with phone at 100%.
So if you don't want to mess with your electrical, this would work great. Then you can charge the battery pack when you stop for the night. It should work long enough for your ride.
