Ok, it arrived today, my Real Carbon Fibre tank Protector, from Geelong Carbon Craft.
I decided to get the "Large" size, which gives you complete coverage of all area's of your body that will come in contact with the tank when riding....crutch, belly, inside leg! Si the tank is protected from all seams, zippers, etc, etc...
The tank Protector comes perfectly moulded for the FZ6 tank, as it is formed up on an FZ6 tank...which makes fitting a lot easier than i thought it would be...as the carbon fibre protector just seem to fall into it's "groove", so to speak...
Had to make sure tank was clean, and that no polish, wax, etc, was left on the tank, before fitting...
Also marked out the exact position of the top of the protector with electrical tape, so that i could get the thing in exactly the right position as i "Stuck" it to the tank....
It does come with comprehensive fitting instructions, including telling you which way to stick it on, and which way's to push the protector onto the tank, to avoid soft spots, or lumps!!!
Anyway, the result is the most comprehensive tank protector money can buy!!!
Photo's 1 & 2....the tank protector, ready to go on...

By the way, the edges dont look anywhere near as harsh in reality....and neither the tank, or the CF tank protector, have any polish, or wax on them at this point...
I am very happy with it....considering the cost of a decent tank pad these days, and their propensity to "age" quickly...peeling up about the edges...and not really giving you complete coverage...more likely to be designed with aesthetic considerations in mind, before protective qualities....
I reckon this thing will not only protect my tank a hell of a lot better than any tank pad, it will probably save me money in the long run, as i am suspecting the longevity of this CF tank protector, is going to much better than the average tank pad...
And it looks alright i reckon.
