Burnt my legs on bike due to heatwave :-o

I rode 35 km to work in 45 degree heat to day and left my bike out after using it this morning so it was hot as 2 hamsters getting friendly in a wool sock when I jumped on to go to work. Wearing black draggin cargo's. Hot for a little while but stand up for a couple secs and the temp drops off a touch.

Keep the visor down and closed is my preference as the hot air flowing in dries the old eye balls out pretty quickly.

It's not real comfy but it's ok, except for the back under the padding....no air flow=ooeygooey. If you need to cool things down a bit, wet a rag and rub it on your seat and tank, same as for a steering wheel in a car. Or buy a bottle of water at a servo and pour it on your seat...lol. Won't take long to dry and it will cool it right off.:thumbup:

As for the stand sinking in to the black stuff. I had the stand sink in about 6 inches once on my XS. Bike didn't go over though...lol.

Me neither, I have more problems with rain than with cold.

Seriously no salt on the road in Belgium these days? The roads overhere are literally white of all the salt they put on. I've been in Holland today and there is a difference in salt-level. In Belgium there is mostly just in the middle of the lane some salt, in Holland the lanes are just completely white. I don't know why the difference, but now I understand why you have a "pekelfiets"
I must say that a pekelfiets must be handy, perhaps I'll buy one of those old diversions for wintertime

Rest assured guys that I never go out riding in anything less than full gear. So today I was in leather jacket, gloves, biking boots and black Draggin Jeans. I also have camo Draggin Jeans and Dainese leather pants..

I'm sure there will be members who will disagree, but I don't considered Draggin Jeans or other reinforced jeans with small patches of kevlar as full gear. I recommended getting some riding pants that have some padding and armour.

Sorry to dissapoint, Steve, but the marks are gone this morning I guess they were more of a scorch than a burn. I have a theory now that the kevlar lining in my Draggins was still a bit damp after they were washed the day before, so maybe the moisture was literally boiling where the Draggins were in contract with the seat and tank! When I got home the frame was still WAY too hot to touch with a bare hand.

My apolgies for thinking you were riding in shorts.

On the draggin jeans I have crash tested shift kevlar lined jeans and while I dont want to do it again, they did their job in a 48 mph slide to a stop on asphalt with not even the begining of a fray on the kevlar underlayment.

I do wear them in the summer and like them. Astars knee armor and those feel pretty safe to me.

Hey, Wrightme43, no offence taken, but has got me thinking that maybe I should be wearing the knee armour under the Draggins more often. Oh well, have been commuting on the bike these last few weeks but will be reduced to weekend riding only when the children go back to school next week as I have to transport them When I'm weekend riding I generally wear the leather, armoured pants, unless it's really hot.
