Big props to Washington State Troopers!!

That's the way it should be! That's the way it is in most country but here. I'm Canadian (Montreal) and poeple get the F out the left lane if there not passing or going above speed limit. Before I moved down here,I never use to pass on the right, left only! Here in South Florida it's bad! I see so many people driving in the left lane 55-60. At peak hour here on I-95 Super speedway if you're not going at least 70-75 you're a moving chicane! When I ride here on rush hour on the bike I feel save riding around 80-90, just a little bit faster then the flow of traffic.

I wish this law was enforce a little more... thing will be a bit more safe!
 
They should be ticketing ever car they pull over for this. You live under a rock if you are not aware that the left lane is designed for passing...you deserve a ticket if you don't know and follow this because you are a danger to society. A warning is not going to teach these people.

I personally always give a nice loud horn blast to left lane campers if I have to pass them on the right.

Even though I am all for lane splitting I would not feel safe doing it...too many ******* cagers would try to box you out or even open their doors or throw stuff out their windows as you passed. I prefer not living in a location where you need to lane split to get to your destination. You could not pay me enough to commute in southern California.
 
Well, all I gots to say is...must be nice if there's actually a lane not all completely filled up the same as every other lane which is the case way too much, it seems around here on area freeways. Otherwise, yeah, it's slower traffic keep right---unless motorist in fast lane is in process of passing a vehicle in which case, be patient (don't tailgate) because remember, courtesy should be mutual.

I'm sure this only applies to light traffic volume at or above posted speeds. You CA guys probably rarely get the chance to get up to posted speeds with your traffic!
 
Yup pretty cool. But the bad part is that speed limits are very strictly enforced here. Coming from San Diego where the normal flow of traffic was 70 (I am not kidding), here they will nail you if you go 60 in a 55. But I do find less monkey business and people will let you in for a lane change etc. If they see you.
 
I drive 50 miles a day which is mostly on the interstate - These Zombies of vans, buses, light trucks with utility trailers constantly plug lefty and piss me off! These people are so oblivious to the law I must throw up here and now. . . :(

Anyway - they are clueless and deserve the ticket as the RIGHT LANE IS EMPTY! All in the middle and slowest traffic is in the lefty. Of course this is pre-rush hour traffic before all lanes come to standstill aka -> PARKway!

Did I mention the 3 FedX trucks that routinely block the lefty doing 50mph????????????? Errrrrrrrrrrrrr. . . . I called them in 3X. No change on I-84. . .
 
I like it alot. Too many idiots screwing up traffic. I'm sure there are probably a lot of laws that are on the books that never or rarely used or enforced. Give them tickets all the way baby. No warnings. Where is the common sence in the world. NOT.
 
I like that they're going after left lane slow pokes, but "passing lanes"? What a waste of a lane. Might as well not even have another lane at that point. Must be nice to have traffic so light, that you can have an empty lane of some sort. :rolleyes:

I moved here from Connecticut, speed limits are 65 and the traffic moves at 80. I've never known anyone to get pulled over for doing any less than 15 over. I was popped in CT as a teenager doing 90 in a 65, then 70 in a 45 (yes, stupid), which are both legit tickets. Here I got busted for doing 40 in a 35 on a 5 lane road ... really man?

To make matters worse the Redmond cops hang out on the Microsoft campus trying to catch us hooligans heading home ... I guess they don't tax us enough. :)

As for WSP's actions, I think this is great but it really only helps me if I'm in my truck. I have very few problems moving through the traffic here when I'm on my bike. It's definitely nice to see the slowpokes given a prod for their shenanigans though.
 
There is a device that you can add on your motorcycle that will make drivers yield and actually pull off to the side of the road or by changing lanes.

It's called a Headlight Modulator, I have one and works like a charm. Perfectly legal in all 50 states plus Canada. Flashes 240 times a minute on high beam, makes you look like you're an emergency vehicle. They actually don't have to yeild, they're just confused. LOL..

Works almost every time.
 
Here in NY they are actually pretty lax, i was going from rochester to buffalo on I-90 and a guy came haulin past me, i pull out (i was waiting for him to go by because i got stuck behind some traffic) start following him and he jolts into the slow lane again, i was like ok... i end up going past a tractor trailer at 84 (mind you this is a 65 speed zone :spank:) just as i get to the front of the tractor trailer i do a routine check in the rearview and all i see is big statey SUV up my arse...i was like ahhh *%^&!!! so i go and pull into the slow lane ready for my impending ticket, i look back expecting to see the statey pull in behind me and flip his lights on, but no, he just sails past probably doing 90....

In Rochester on 390/490/590 in the 65's 74 is pretty safe, but i'm glad they are giving tickets for lane campers, i run into AT LEAST 1 a day and then u get pissed because then you end up doing something illegal by passing in the right hand lane :spank: wish they'd crack down on this in WNY
