Back driving lights

*chuckle* i guess tail light works ... the red one!!! :Flash:

Rectifier, battery and stator coil are all functioning properly, the battery is still not being charged.

Tonight i'm going to bypass the wiring between the recttifier and the battery, on both pos and neg sides with a thicker cable.

The autolec (not a bike mech) reckons the cable used is too thin for the current, even more so since i had an extra light on. Same would go for any after market electricals.

Will have an answer tomorrow.

OK, what i missed is this:

The BOSCH autolec workshop close to us, they are stupid brainless idiots who shout be taken out and shot.

The rewired my stator alright, with a LARGER GAUGE wire. So while it worked, and all the voltages tested ok, it was not producing the required amperage.

Rewired PROPERLY, and it seems that is now resolved. Check the people you pay. Although, it cost a total of about R2000 to fix, including replacing the entire charging system. If i have dropped it off at yamaha, it would have cost .... about R4000, PLUS quite a bit of labour.

This problem lasted about 4 months that i couldn't ride, at least not safely. I don't know if it was a good trade, but i fixed it :D

And about the tail light, vibration. I packed some door insulation tape around the light, and seems to be the trick.

peace, and thanks to those who offered advice!!!!

The battery holds power, the stator generates power, and the rectifier makes it the correct voltage. So your problem is likely within one of those.

For the taillight issue, the only thing I can think of blowing it would be a bad fuse, because if it got too much power, the fuse would blow first, severing the connection.
Have you tried actually replacing the fuses or just testing them?

I'm not sure, but it might actually cause your power issues, meaning power would be "leaking" through the broken fuse. I could be wrong but it's worth a shot.

Edit: I just read the last page and saw that you've fixed it. I'm dumb.
