August 20th - NY rt.9, 9D, 9W along Hudson

Thinking of another ride - up the Hudson to Newburgh on the east side, and then down the west side via 9W and 218.
The tentative day is next Saturday, August 13th - next week looks rainy as of now, so I'm not sure how the next weekend will play out. If the weather isn't nice, I'd like to push the plan one week.

Starting bright and early at Croton Point Park - I'm thinking 9ish.

Here is the map, for now - suggestions are welcome. As of right now, it does involve tolls to cross bridges.

there will be a lot of straights, but some twisties too, including ones with vertical wall on the right and "next stop - 300ft down" on the left.


I'd like to continue on 9W/202 through the Bear Mountain Park down to 87/287, but not sure if it's accessible (it says NY Bike Route #9) - does anybody know if it's also a motorist road?

Hi, Smersh.
The Bear Mountain side of your ride It's good for motor vehicles, and it's one of my favorite rides, if you go all the way to the top of Bear Mountain, there is a place with parking where you can see NYC far away and mountains, rivers, lakes etc.
I may be able to do this ride with you and I'm pretty sure Erci, FB400 will like to join.

Would very much love to go, but my weekends are shot for a while. Definitely busy this weekend and weekend of 13/14. *Might* be able to go the weekend after that, but it'll be tough to get the time off.

Closest one to me yet i think lol... i'll have to see, my B-day is the 12th and if all goes to plan, i may be installing mods that weekend, or be sleeping the entire time (effin 3rd shift + 70+ hr weeks)...however if it looks like i'll be able to go, i'm definitely interested :thumbup:

Would be going for sure Tim, but I'll be in Lake George that weekend so that sucks as far as making it this time. Ill be checking the thread though incase anything changes.

Yup, can definitely do that. I always find back roads for this sort of thing.. takes longer, but well worth it.

Personally, I'm not a fan of sports memorabilia, but i like a good bar, so if people are interested in stopping by there for lunch, we can figure it out - we can either:

a) come back from Bear Mountain, at the end, cross the Bear Mountain Bridge and head there for lunch

b) reverse the route, start on west side, then cross over in Newburgh, and come down to this place. That will leave one nice stretch of 9D.

Your vote, what say you?
