Apparently i'm crazy, but wont give up! (ice riding)

Crazy? Stupid? ER response time tester? No, not necessarily. Each person's skill and comfort levels are completely different. I've long been a year round rider. In VA we don't see much snow but we usually have cold winters. 20f morning commutes are normal for me and 5f is lowest I've seen here and even then I rode. Rain never stops me from riding, but snow and ice will. Obviously, ice patches are possible when the road surface is below freezing, and I've often had to roll over those patches. If you're ready for it, it's not a big deal. (disclaimer: I know where those are likely to occur on my commute and ride accordingly. I am much more apprehensive on less familiar routes). Winter riding is a calculated risk , but so is riding period.

With that said, it was friggin 80f here today and was such a treat riding without my insulated liners and neck gator etc. I felt so free.

And road salt?? Pshaw.. That's but one component of my road grime based motorcycle protection system. I do prefer to have a base coat of dust and dead bugs laid down first.

You must have started on a dual sport like i did lol, where the only time your bike gets washed is when it rains lol

You're good.. My first bike was a Honda NX125.

As I have my bike out with light snow/rain in the forecast, I know the spirit of this thread well.

I am quite sure I have put more miles on this winter IN winter than most people from the northern Illinois area do all summer, so I'm good with it...
