An 1125R for $2500??? Should I do it???

Wow, how did I miss this all together? Well I guess it is too late for me to yell "check fire" but you seem determined to get this buell, Pete. Hopefully it all goes well for ya and of course we want pics! And if you sell us out for some Buell forum we will have Fred hunt you down!

Who's the slacker????

"Target, cease fire, driver back up, gunner take over."

It's a matter is signing my life away, I'm waiting on the documents to be FEDEX'd to me.

The Buell forums kinda suck. Bad Weather Bike is okay but the forum application is about 1994, well maybe, 1995. The others I've found have about 12 threads total. I'm not going anywhere. Besides with Wavex and Mister X I'm right at home.

Besides by staying here I can say, "Yeah well when I had an FZ." ;)

My first question to you when you get your new bike is "How exactly big of a grin can you get from 146 horses?"

I'll be honest Joker I'm a bit concerned about that one. I've never ridden a bike with that much power.

LOVE THE 1125R's engine!!! it kicks some serious ass!!! And the bike's ergos are very nice as well, and pretty comfy for an SS... The only reason I would not buy it: HEAT!

Have you ever ridding the bike? I usually don't care if a bike gets a little hot, with our expectations of engine power output vs weight and size these days, one has to expect some heat imo, but the 1125R's heat was way more than just an annoyance... it was literally hurting my thigh, and I had to pull my leg off the damn frame (left side) to be able to deal with it...

I thought that it was because I was in stop and go traffic, on a demo bike that had probably been abused all day, but I heard from a guy at the track (who owned one) that even at higher speeds around the track, the heat was just as bad...
I read that Buell implemented a bunch of changes for the '09 model to try and mitigate the problem, and it apparently worked "somewhat"...

If I were you, I'd ride it first before committing... see if you can deal with the heat... if you can, than DO IT!

There is an insulation kit and the newest ECU flash has greatly reduced the heat issue. The newest flash has also solved the vast majority of the low speed throttle issues too. There is a guy over on Bad Weather who is in the process of installing the '09 fuel injectors. They are directional and have an additional jet. Only $125 each, so if it works I'll spring for them.

Texas in August may be rough on this thing, we'll see.

:needpics:

Again, someone had to say it... even if you haven't taken possession of the bike yet ;)

Here's a few stock ones. Davidsa1 lives near the shop and today he said he'd go check it out and take a photo for me.

I can tell you from the bottom of my being, that is the ugliest muffler ever put on a motorcycle. I don't give a rat's behind about Eric Buells "science" behind it, it is UGLY. The first mod will be a Jardine, if it is not too loud. D&D make a nice one but WAY too loud.

Congradulations on finally getting it. I know you have had your mind set on one for a while now. I still want to get together for a ride when i get back to texas in a few weeks

I agree, when you get back we will have to get together for a ride and a beer or two.

That D&D exhaust looks mean, almost Moto-GP like.

I'm getting excited about this purchase, and it's got nothing to do with me and I'm on the other side of the world :rof:

Ya gunna love it.

:)

Thanks Stumbles I'm really excited, like a kid waiting for Christmas. There's a track day on the 27th of Feb. I may just have to go break it in. :D
