I found a good deal on a pair of SMX-5 boots at a recent track day and bought them without much research. After getting them home I found that they fit well but that they are the waterproof model where the air vents are covered on the inside. Living in the South, they tend to be warm even on cooler summer days. Has anyone attempted to modify this model of boot? Any suggestions other than wait till winter to enjoy them?

Ride in the rain? J/k
I use underarmor wicking socks which help some but hot boots are hot boots. Still,it's better to sweat than bleed.

Perhaps the water proof material is a removable liner. Look into it or just cut holes where the vents are.:spank: Great boots regardless.

Thanks for the info. I look at the liner and didn't see an acceptable method to open up the vents. I like the boots so much that I may just wear them and suffer until October.

I have the non waterproof, love these boots they are excellent. Not sure the vents really do that much, i live in Dallas and have not had much in the way of heat issues so you should be ok. OR you could just ride FAST to keep the airflow up, lol!
