5 Minute Seat Riser!!!

I don't know but I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who slides forward on the seat. I spend half my time re-positioning my butt!!! So yesterday I pulled the seat and had another look-see. Thought about making a metal bracket to go below the plastic tongue that goes into slot - "A". After looking around the garage I found a rubber plug from an old swimming pool repair job. Plug in front now I needed something to take the flex out of the middle!! AHHH! my collection of vodka bottle plastic caps!! Of course. A little duct tape to hold everything in place temporarily and do a test ride. 66 miles later I solved one of my largest problems I've had with this seat!! 3/4" makes a really big difference! Less vibration also. And it still locks into place!

yeah... so is the seat just like free floating? how does it stay down..

It is free in front but you're sitting there. The rear locks like normal.

yipes.... ride safe... all i gotta say... i see that thing causing more problems then solving... doesnt it tend to slide at all? i would be afraid of going hard in a turn and having it break loose... or if nothing else atleast F up the locking system... bend something... i dunno... yipes...

Thanks, but I'm not a canyon carver yet. The front of the seat is somewhat locked by the curvature into the the gas tank. It can't move left or right at all under my easy riding. The rear is locked. Only ridden 66 miles so I may find a problem. The comfort was fantastic. I'm very tall.

It's a great idea, but one that's quite unsafe. All of the "contact" points on a bike should be quite solidly mounted; the seat, the tank, the handlebars and the footpegs.
Try to devise a method of securing the front of the seat properly. A seat shifting sideways unexpectedly could cause all kinds of trouble for you.

Here's a better option.

Buy a sheet of them tool case drawer linings. They're cheap and tacky. Cut it to form and line the seat with it and use garters to hold it onto the seat. NO SLIDING. Works well and works also for the pillion.
