This past weekend I volunteered at a fund raising event at my local airport. They needed someone to test the timing equipment before the race started and I had a chance to make a couple passes.

The surface was cement and the air temp was about 55 degrees.

We were running a Sportsman Tree with a .500 light.

PASS #1 / PASS #2

REACTION TIME: .901 / 1.14

TRAP MPH: 92.2 MPH / 91.8 MPH

ELAPSED TIME: 8.229 SEC / 8.046 SEC

Obviously, my reaction times sucked, and I could have shaved almost a half second from my E/T's if I had better launches. My first pass had some wheelspin on the launch, but felt like a pretty good run. I dropped my RPM's a to 3,000 for the second pass which bogged the engine a little out of the hole. I wish they would have hooked up the 60 foot sensor and the mid track sensor, but both of them were damaged from last year. Some idiot on a drag snowmobile ran over the cables when he aborted his run mid track.

It's interesting how run #1 had a faster trap speed, and a lower reaction time, but had a higher E/T than run #1.

Overall, it was a fun experience and I look forward to doing it again!

BTW, the fastest bike of the day was a 2009 CBR 1000 RR that ran 111.4 mph in the 1/8 mile.
