Things that will cause poor gas mileage: Under inflated tires. Poor wheel alignment. Clutch needing adjustment. Chain too tight. Riding at high RPM’s. Dirty air filter. TPS recall(older bikes) or out of adjustment. High speed riding. Riding two up. A new bike not broken in. I’m...

    Touring Tires

Bridegstone BT-021's. There the next generation of the 020's. The rear tire has a 2" strip of hard rubber and the rest of the tread is a softer compound like on the BT-014. So far I have about 1000 miles on mine, so far so good. They seem to absorb road bumps well and I have 40 pounds in the...

dropped my helmet. time for a new one?

It seems to me that a helmet dropped from that distance shouldan't be cracked. I have no idea the type of testing these helmet undergo to get DOT or Snell approved but it doesn't seem like a helmet cracked from a drop of that distance would provide much protection in a real crash.

I did a dumb thing yesterday.

I’m sure you were probably thing of the next errand or something else at the time. It goes to show how a short lapse of concentration can go very bad very quickly. Glad you OK!

    Automatic Chain Oilers

I was wondering how many use or have had experience with automatic chain oilers. These come in handy for touring and long everyday commutes, but have little value for short or occasional rides. I'm mainly interest in the brand and your experience.

    We are invisible

Be careful using the “wobble” when entering an intersection as it may convey a signal to the other drivers that you do not intend. The driver may only see you turn one way or the other and assume you are turning in that direction. Also, wobbling, makes it more difficult to take evasive action...

    Joe Biden????

yawn! yawn! And there you have your typical liberal always offended and never getting it!!
  17. rvbiker

    That does it!

Humm, either the driver was purposely trying to intimidate you or he just didn’t see you but either way, whether it was the horn or intimidation, he DID see you. I guess I don’t see how a bigger horn would have helped in this situation but you were there and I was not!

It's concentration you need stupid! (Lesson learnt)

One other lesson can be learn from reading your well told story. As we get tired our decision making ability is compromised, coupled with disconfort and the urgency of getting home, all lead to the choice of taking a road with twisties instead of turning around and staying on the highway...

Where do you guys legally carry your pistols?

There are those of us who go touring which could include going to a state park and camping overnight. It would be a good idea to carry protection in these cases in the event there are visits by anything wild which includes both animal and human.

How would you dig out from this?

Go to a credit union, the one on base if you have one, tell them you want to consolidate your bills. You will need to gather up anything you can use for collateral and you’ll probably need a few co-signers(parents and or inlaws, friends). The one thing you got going for you is you have a steady...
