Man, I wish I would have read this before I'd left. I did have an eye out for other FZ6s. But I'll be honest. I spent most of my time either drooling over the bikes on Ducati Island, or the girls at the Harley trailer. Both so hot!!!
Wow! I'm gonna have to double and triple check all my soft luggage now. Especially since I'm heading all the way up to Laguna Seca from San Diego. Thanks for the heads up, and glad your friend is okay.
Once I get back from Laguna Seca, I'll probably paint the fork, rearsets, and exhaust cover satin black to match the radiator side guards and brakets. I might get the Two Bros exhaust at some point too.
There was a huge thread like this on SBN a long time ago. My favorite quote was, "When you go to fill up your bike ask yourself, "do you know more about it than the Yamaha engineer who designed it?""
Don't feel bad dude, I did the exact same thing when I was hooking up my demon fairing. The blinkers worked, so I assumed the headlight would too. Once I started it the engine itself it was like, "Hey there's the light. I'm an idiot." Good luck.
Here's the link I got from Wavex. Amazon.com: 7/8" HANDLEBARS CLAMP KIT - Slipstreamer -: Automotive
You'll also need some rubber grommets and longer screws. Easy find at any auto parts store.
Kinda hard to say really, as it was done over the course of a few days because I was waiting for parts. I'll give you a best guess though. It took me and two buddies about 45 minutes to completely remove the fairing, speedo, and fender. Once I had all the proper hardware for the speedo mount, it...
Ha, ha! So true! But it's nothing compared to the rat's nest under the manifold of a 3rd-gen RX-7. She's all back together now and I know, I know
:needpics:
So have patience, and the pics will be up later today.
Pure pimpness! Me likey. I just finished mine yesterday too. But I'm a doof, and didn't take any pictures. I will today though. But my bike has way cooler custom scratches on the clutch cover.
Update:
Okay, the speedo has been mounted. Can't see them from the pics, but I did paint the radiator gaurds satin black. Got the wiring tested. Just have to clean it up a bit. Got plenty of e-tape and zip ties for that. All that's really left is to actually mount the demon fairing. Still...
That's pretty clever there! I biased mine to the left though. I have the exact same bar clamps, (I guess we both took Wavex's advice) Either way, lookin' good man, lookin' good! I hope to have mine completely done sometime this week.
In my opinion, the dual setup reminds me of British bikes. Where the mini fairing reminds me more of customs. Either way, you're going naked with an FZ6. Thus, there is no wrong answer. Good luck and keep us posted.
Hmm, very interesting. I received my new mirrors yesterday, and am also waiting for 7/8ths clamps for my speedo. And my bike is blue. We must be alternate universe twins.
Anyway, lookin' good man. Can't wait to see the final shots.
If you don't mind me piggy-backing, I have a question for you guys about headlights too. I just received my demon fairing today, and each headlight has three wires going to it. I know two are hot and one is ground. Is it safe to assume one wire low, one high, and the other ground? Thanks for the...
