Does mpg matter to you?
Does riding for more than an hour matter?
It's not just the upgrade to a liter bike, you're upgrading to a supersport liter bike. Comfort and daily drivability take a backseat to pure performance in handling and speed. Sure would be fun for those short bursts of time...
Thanks for the history lesson :). I think Ben knows that "all" valves are not closed on cylinder 1, that's what he was saying. Not all valves are closed when you see tdc on the crank, but for sure cylinder 1's valves. Back on topic my original point was that the R1 video showed the guys setting...
Replaced my stockers with iridiums at 14,000 miles. Stock ones looked perfect and the bike runs exactly the same as far as I can tell. Results may vary...
I usually ride with the foam protector that comes built into the jacket but recently I've been removing it because it makes the jacket puffy in the back and t's annoying:spank:
I guess it comes down to how much is your *Insert body part/function here* worth? I always wear my helmet and...
Not the valve cover. The timing cover on the side. Similar to what they did in the R1 video. I would think you would want to open it up so you can set the engine to TDC. Obviously it is not a necessity though.
If you google you can find the FZ6 manual which has a good diagram. I found the oem tensioner online for under $80, I think the link is earlier in this thread. I also found a video on YouTube of the replacement of an R1 tensioner and it is very similar to an FZ6 install. I'm going to do a little...
Back from the dead. I am reviving this thread because I am experiencing the sound described by the OP. Sounds like marbles in the top end. Not valvetrain noise, not my chain, and despite my exhaust being super loud I have actually picked up on this new different noise. Not super loud but you...
What crud? Why would there be crud in there? You can depress the pistons by hand they're so small. Replacing pads doesn't open the bleeders, no air introduced into the system, no need to bleed.
Found this: http://www.600riders.com/forum/garage-mechanical-help/36882-chain-adjustment-bolt-plate-loose.html
Going to try some of those tips. Seems like a common problem.
So I am adjusting my chain, for the first time, and I have it where I want it but the right side swingarm endcap has come loose and if I tighten the adjusting nut so that it's not loose the adjustment is off. I have included a video to show what I'm talking about. I can push on the rear tire...
I'm getting supplies today. I have one question. Does the oil have to be ATF/2 stroke oil? Or are we just using something that is thin enough to be sucked into the tubes, which is why motor oil won't work? I must have something laying around in my garage I can use.
Awesome write up BTW...
