I agree that its more likely the radar/laser gun out of whack. My speedo used to be off about 4 mph at 60 or so. When I bumped my front sprocket up to a 17, it made it almost perfect.
To reiterate, in stock config, if my speedo said 65, I was actually doing about 61.
These "little" engines are great. I've had 2 liter+ bikes, and yeah, they are faster - no doubt about it. But this Yamaha 600 is a blast, and around 10 or 11 thousand the thing is absolutely rippin. Fun times.
And yeah - i had to drag race once when the other guy started it, too... or was it...
I was in this dilemma last summer. Up to and including the 2006 FZ6, the filter is a KN-303. 2007 and up use the KN-204.
And I personally like the Hi Flo Filters. Many reviews of them, and they're cheaper. Can find on ebay for under $10 shipped usually. They use the same part number scheme as...
just shows how knowledgeable some of our members are. I work on my YZ250F a bit, but this would require an entirely different level of knowledge... and confidence.
I'm glad the OP is making progress, and I look forward to reading the success story soon.
You can definitely feel 5psi. I check my pressure before every ride, unless I'm riding several consecutive days. Its just one of those things that's so easy and it makes me not worry.
I went up a tooth on the front, with an AFAM sprocket. I have the whine now, too, and despite adjusting chain, it seems like its here to stay. I don't notice it much while riding. But if I shut off the engine and coast into my driveway (100 yds), I can certainly hear it.
This really bothered...
you pulled the trigger - congrats. Now its time to forget how much your toy cost, and start playin with it. For a "little" 600, they're a super fun bike. Find a way to carry a rolled up newspaper with you when riding. Its just the amount of force you need to beat off the ladies - they're not...
The Chevron Complete Fuel System Cleaner is a great product. I've used it in my cars and trucks periodically for years. But I just saw the Lucas Oil Fuel Treatment on a counter the other day and tried it, and it seems to work well, too. Both clean more than just injectors; valves and combustion...
Reasoning is pretty simple - spread the transmission ratios out a bit. Same reasoning as dropping a tooth - just the opposite way. If your comment was to disapprove of my change, I guess its a good thing you don't have to ride my bike. :Flash:
Good info - I just replaced my front sprocket for a 17 toother, and noticed that damper on the stock sprocket, but didn't know what it was.
I adjusted, then readjusted, then re-readjusted my chain a few times now, thinking I didn't have it right. But now I think the leftover noise might just...
Just posting to log another occurrence of this. I can't tell if mine is cable or lever related, though. I originally thought it was the lever, since the buzz stops when i lay a couple fingers on it.
Anxiously awaiting to hear what the dealer says about this...:Flash:
another way you can ensure your clutch is safe: Look for the JASO MA spec on the oil. That basically designates it as "wet-clutch approved"
You don't really need to use the clutch, though... ;)
so can you switch between the profiles while moving? or do you have to stop and take your seat off and push buttons?
I see these for $109.99 about everywhere. Seems like thats the going rate now.
Re: I put Amsoil 10w40 in my FZ6 and it's a miracle...
I use the Amsoil Motorcycle 10w40 in my FZ6. I've used it in other bikes, too. I think its really great stuff. And here in Oregon, our local GI Joes (now Joe's Sports) stores have it on the shelves right next to the K&N motorcycle oil...
