    Cree LED H7 upgrade?

Re: Battery leads reversed, what now? So you left your boot off, too? I am somewhat worried about overheating, maybe I'll cut some vents in mine before I reinstall it to split the difference.

    Cree LED H7 upgrade?

Re: Battery leads reversed, what now? 1x-H4-9003-LED-Headlight-Hi-Lo-Beam-3000LM-Motorcycle-6000K-White-30W-Cree-Bulb. It was a little tricky to install, as it has a larger diameter than the stock setup as well as the large protrusion on the back. However, it's one of the few I saw that...

    Battery leads reversed, what now?

Quick update. I still haven't gotten a chance to replace the ignition switch, but I haven't had a hint of trouble in the last week, which is good since the last "fix" I posted about didn't seem to take. It worked great for a couple days, but after I accidentally tried to start it in gear (I...

    Battery leads reversed, what now?

I was talking about an improvised remote terminal connector the previous owner installed. Basically a foot-long centimeter-thick wire attached to the (+) terminal and hanging loose behind the windshield. The rubber piece on it was to keep it from shorting against the frame, and I saw it spark a...

    Battery leads reversed, what now?

Well, the new ignition switch hasn't come in and I haven't had time to do a full diagnostic program, but it seems like it's back at 100% nonetheless. A couple days ago I took out the battery to put it on the tender, and in the process noticed two things: 1) The rubber stopper on the (+)...

    Battery leads reversed, what now?

Not yet, haven't had a spare minute to work on it. New ignition switch should get in this weekend, and I'm going to go through the list of diagnostics you all gave me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Battery leads reversed, what now?

I have a crappy Harbor Freight multimeter, though I have been looking for an excuse to upgrade. But I think it has everything I need to do these test. The ignition switch possibility is interesting. My ignition switch is in terrible condition. Difficult to turn to "on", can't lock it at all...

    Battery leads reversed, what now?

I haven't had a chance to work on the bike since I last posted, but I have a small update nevertheless. When I got on to ride to work this morning, it wouldn't start. Not enough juice. Last night O'Reilly's said they'd brought it to full charge, and it started faster than I'd ever heard. I'd...

    Battery leads reversed, what now?

I'm not sure if they did a load test. I have a + terminal extender, so it's pretty easy to stick a voltmeter on positive. I had a little more trouble finding a good ground with the voltmeter probe, so my readings might have been a little low. I did the test fast and didn't write anything down...

    Battery leads reversed, what now?

Yes, it was turning over a bit slower than usual. I let it charge another 10 minutes and it started right up! Out of caution I let it idle for another 10 minutes or so while I cleaned up the improvised work area. Then, just as I finished putting on my helmet, it died again. Thankfully it died...

    Battery leads reversed, what now?

Checked out the fuses. All the ones on the side were fine, as was the 30 amp on the battery. 25 amp on the battery was blown. Replaced it and the clock came on! Hooked it up to my friend's bike (correctly), it turns over but does not start. Error 1 displays. I read that might be insufficient...

    Battery leads reversed, what now?

Posting from the side of the road. I was out riding with a friend on a near-dead battery and stalled. I'd been push starting while waiting for my new battery to come in, but this time the battery was too dead to push start, so I had him come jump me. He'd never jumped from his bike before...

Broken fuel pump outlet, what should I do?

I got it running again! The replacement fuel pump came while I was gone. I did the same procedure as before (albeit much faster since I knew exactly what to do). When I finished last time I drained and disconnected the fuel tank, so this time all I had to do was: 1. Remove the metal...

Broken fuel pump outlet, what should I do?

On a related note, does anyone know where to find a replacement fuel line bracket? Or whatever it's called--the black plastic piece that keeps pressure off the pump outlet / fuel line joint? I may have misplaced mine in the chaos Saturday. I was planning on fabricating a new one out of PVC...

Broken fuel pump outlet, what should I do?

Purchased. Thanks, FinalImpact! Good eye. Should be waiting for me when I get back in town.

Broken fuel pump outlet, what should I do?

Yup. The first thing I did when it broke was check eBay, get excited that they were so reasonable, and disappointed when I figured that out. But now I'm thinking about following ya'lls advice and setting an eBay alert for used pumps. JB Weld update: I don't have a lot of experience with JB...

Broken fuel pump outlet, what should I do?

The first time it broke, only half a cup or so of fuel came out. This time, the entire tank is draining through the fuel sending outlet. So I'm thinking I don't have a proper seal between the pump and the outer housing / sending outlet, which would have kept it from building proper pressure and...

Broken fuel pump outlet, what should I do?

Well, one bit of good news and three bits of bad news. Good news: 1. Got all the correct parts and got them installed without breaking anything. Bad news: 1. Wasn't able to take pictures. 2. Couldn't get it to start. Not sure why. I could hear the fuel pump running (I left my old pump in and...

Broken fuel pump outlet, what should I do?

I just received the pump from FB400--thanks again for that, that was so generous. Still waiting on the o-ring before I can start--I ordered it on Amazon on Sunday and it finally shipped today. Ready to get this thing running again!

Broken fuel pump outlet, what should I do?

Thanks for the illustrations, FinalImpact--I have a feeling I will need them. And huge thanks to FB400 for the part, that is awesome. I'll report back here first thing after surgery.
