hah.....I was planning a trip to turkey but eventually postponed it because I thought it would be too much trouble in mid summer and 40 C...... at 50-60C I wouldn't worry so much about the bike as of personal health. I overheated once in strong sun and I don't recommend it. I don't like to say...
How do you protect a laptop from rain etc? I brought a Macbook Air 11" and on two occasions it stopped working because of rainy weather. Apparantly it's very sensitive for humidity levels. The battery shortcircuited and then it took three weeks before it dried up and functioned as normal again...
Make sure the tires and brakes are relatively new so that you don't have to change them mid way. Schedule some resting days with good sleep, food and recovery.

you can keep driving but at the first sign of overheating (there's a warning light?) pull over and stop the engine and let it cool for 10 minutes. a.s.o...
I use a GPS for hiking, the Garmin eTrex 20. It runs on 2xR6 batteries so there are no need for cables on the bike. I have yet to do a proper handlebar mount but it works great.
I got stuck in some mud and in seconds the rear wheel had dug itself down. it took me one hour before I figured out how to get it out of it, laying the bike on its side and filling the hole with some large rocks. Only problem is that all that mud and sand is probably not so good for the chain...
