I need some good advise, seriously

Everyone has mentioned that you should think about how your family will feel if you're killed or badly injured. The other thing to think about is how you would feel if you kill or badly injure someone else's dad, mom, or child. To have that on your conscience would also be a life changing event.

    Poor fuel choice

As a control engineer with some experience in gasoline blending control, I can tell you that to make E10, refineries blend a mix known as RBOB (regular base for oxygenate blending) or PBOB. RBOB and PBOB are blended in such a way that they will meet specifications for octane, vapor pressure, etc...

This seems like a bike that most FZ6 owners would appreciate.

I was looking at these bikes for all the reasons you mentioned, but I heard concerns about engine problems. Do you think those concerns are over-blown?

    Favorite Cars?

That's one I'd be willing to buy the gas for.

    Favorite Cars?

If I were to replace my Saab, I'd be thinking of a Mazdaspeed 3 or a Hyundai Genesis coupe. I like the Turbo Sonatas quite a bit too, but they are bigger than what I'm used to. My dream car: a CTS-V wagon. I will probably never own one, because I have a hard time spending that much money on...

    Favorite Cars?

This is my Saab, a 2000 Viggen. Thanks to some fairly serious mods, it puts about 400 horsepower and 400 lb-ft on the wheels. It's actually pretty docile at moderate throttle openings, but it can also be pretty dramatic.

    It's steamy out there

In Houston, when it's 90F and 60% humidity, we call it cool and dry for a summer day.

    Looking for info on FZ6's

FYI, 2006 models also have the black frame. (That's what I've got.) The silver frame looks good on a silver bike, in my opinion. Good luck! Dave

    Tank range?

The other thing that can really improve your range is to fill the tank all the way. I fill mine on the centerstand, and top it off repeatedly until it's really and truly full. When I do this, can make 200 highway miles at a brisk pace.

Free Harley, if you can lift it.

I hate it when that happens.

How often do you use your battery tender?

My '06 FZ6 has the original battery. I've ridden it about 3000 miles in a bit less than a year. The previous (second) owner only rode it about 200 miles in two years. The battery went dead for me on a test ride, but I was able to bump start the bike. I went three months without riding due to...

Happy Birthday, OF! (When I saw the thread tile, I said, "What! It's not my birthday!")

    Which mesh overpants?

Thanks, everyone, for your responses. I probably won't get a real expensive pair until I decide that I like this style of gear. I need to do some research on the Airglide and Scorpion Deauce overpants. Thanks again! Dave

    Which mesh overpants?

My wife's been asking me what I want for Father's Day. It took me a while to remember that I've been wanting some riding pants. I wear Nomex coveralls to work. In the summer, I wear gym shorts underneath when I drive the car, but jeans when I ride. I think I need more protection, and I've...

    WTB: 04-06 Corbin Seat

FYI, you can use a seat for 2007+ on your bike. You just have to take off a bracket on the bottom of the seat and install two or three washers to extend it a bit so it locks tight. That's what I'm running on my '06.

Better mileage at 87 octane compared to 91

In general, if you make the material more dense, you increase its energy content on a volumetric basis. A refinery has a wide range of reaction and distillation processes. Some of them will make the materials more dense and some will make them less dense. Crude oil is made up of certain...

Better mileage at 87 octane compared to 91

I think this might be true as a general rule, but when I think of the many chemical species that go into gasoline, there are lots of exceptions, so you can't bank on it. It just depends what the refiner is blending. As far as ethanol goes, think of it this way: We get energy out of fuel by...

    fuel capacity?

My round trip commute is about 96 miles. If I fill the bike on the centerstand, going slowly to get in every little bit, I can make two round trips without making the last bar blink. It's usually a shade over 4 gallons.
