Saying not to use sliders because they might crack your frame is like saying don't wear a seatbelt because you might get trapped. Benefit far outweighs the risk. Any impact hard enough to crack the frame mount with sliders would have obliterated it (and likely your leg) without them.
This may be a crazy question, but how much fresh oil have you seen? It's pretty much always yellow.
And when you change the oil, all of it is not sitting in the gallery. A good bit stays in the transmission and pump mechanism.
Unless it's extreme, raising an inch or so is generally a "good" improvement. Mostly a personal preference thing, but it does enhance turn in at the expense of stability. Some track riders will use longer shocks to get an extra inch or two up on the tail, particularly on less aggressive bikes...
Definitely throw a SAE charging lead under there while you have the tank up. I have one that just comes out the frame hole beside the wiring harness and is ziptied to the right control lines. Easy, discreet, and no lifting the tank to charge up.

I can't think of anything that would swap right over to the FZ6 without fabrication. If the frame and forks are solid, it sounds like a track bike candidate to me.
