If it's an upright position you are after don't go for the sv1000s. I had one, as much as I loved the bike, it's not a comfortable machine. The fz6 is extra comfy, the s2 version even more so I believe.
It's not the worst out there but this video is enough to make you think. These are the injuries semi-healed so there isn't loads of blood or a load of scars, it's the in-between stage.

What's the downside to belt drive?
I've never understood what is the benefit of chain over belt or belt over chain. I know belt is often advertised as less maintainance ie no need to lube and so cleaner too.
