Basically, in 1st gear when I hit roughly 6000 rpm the engine/exhaust starts making a 'duel noise' - the engine sounds like it's starting to strain. Then at 10000 rpm the bike loses power and actually starts to slow down!! It feels like a massive dip in power. Anyone any ideas please?
Re: changing oil.
The wod Boton won't make sense to them unless their from Glasgow. And the pronunciation...erm... It rhymes with rotten and is spoken exactly as it's spelt.

Dear God, I'm such a boton (Scottish word for prick!) I've just seen a link above all my posts with a great pictorial on it. OK Just ignore me now.

Re: changing oil.
OK, don'y know what I was doing wrong, but got the search thing working. but I just can't find that pictorial oil change thread by biker dude? Can anyone put a link to it here for me please?
My log book says that my next (second) service is at 6000 miles. Should I have changed my oil before this (not counting the 600 mile service which I've already had done). If I wait for the 6000 miles, what are the bad points of keeping the same oil all that time?
Cheers
Re: changing oil.
So do I only need the oil to do it or do I need a special tool, new filter (if so, do I have to get it from a Yamaha dealer) etc.

changing oil.
How easy is it to change the oil. Before you answer this you must bear (bare??) in mind that I really haven't got a clue about engines etc and am actually quite nervous about doing it, but feel that I should learn it to do it at my leisure in the future. Also what oil should I...
I've got all the gear (probably more than I need) but for a track day I thought you needed a full racing, 1 piece suit??
The only problem I can forsee with looking way ahead is surely you need to know you're not about to run over a manhole cover, or some dodgy bit of loose tarmac?
Wow guys, thanks for all he comments. This is why I love this forum - really good advice with little, or no, sarcasm! Cheers Again.
I can't really go on a trackday bacause I think that you need full racing gear which I don't have. I also maintain that they are geared more towards learning how...
I'm really only interested in getting better at corners as I can't lean the bike hardly at all - everytime I try, the chicken in me really takes over!! Does anyone know of a course that could teach me better cornering techniques? I'm not interested in a trackday because I have no interest in...
With my commute being through rush hour London traffic I use it all the time. It's perfect for slow control of the bike!! I tend not to use it over 10 mph though, just slow control.
