    Chain and sprocket life span

I've done 41450kms or 25750 ish miles. I cleaned and inspected it yesterday and while the sprockets are fine, the chain has a couple of stiff links and is looking a little stretched now. I ride in the rain a lot and used to take good care of the chain, but have fallen into bad habits lately...

    Water proofing textiles

True that some liners are better than others. I had some Frank Thomas gloves with Aquapore lining - it was rubbish! You generally get what you pay for, and I learnt my lesson! I've got some Alpinestars Goretex boots now - love them!

    jtarkany Streetfighter Revealed...Finally!!!

Awesome work man. I love it! Now the real question is: in a fight, which streetfighter would win - jtarkany's or Wolfman's? :D

    Water proofing textiles

I ride in the rain too (year round, everyday biker) and I bought some Hein Gericke stuff last September. I didn't go for Goretex, but their own version - Shelltex. It's brilliant! I've been in some really heavy downpours (the kind where you even consider pulling in under a bridge) and it has...

    Not the best of weekends...

Me and the missus left Paris on Friday night to travel down to Lyon to visit her mum (it was her birthday on Saturday). It's a fairly long trek in our old car (a Peugeot 306) of about 550kms. Now our old car doesn't really do much above 120kph so you can imagine it's about a 5 hour journey...

Thoughts on moving to a Liter bike

Thought I'd chime in! I think it's a very personal choice, and everyone will tell you what their own opinion is. I think the only way for you to make the decision is to try before you buy! I'd love a litre bike, but I need something super comfy as I commute every day and do a lot of kms a...

    Clutch and brake fluid

You don't have any clutch fluid - the clutch is lubricated from the engine oil. The brake fluid should be changed about every 2 or 3 years as it absorbs moisture over time which impairs the braking performance. Dot 4 is fine.

My new Black and Orange V Twin

Congrats on the new bike man! :cheer: I'm seriously envious - I've been lusting after this bike for ages now! It will be my next one when I get enough money together to upgrade the FZ6. Are you enjoying the v-twin torque?! Did you get any optional extras fitted? Post up a review when...

    07 fairing fit 06 ?

You'd need the whole lot to do it - fairing, fairing stay (bracket that attaches the fairing to the front of the bike) and also you'd need the 07+ speedo as it's a different shape to the 04-06 model, and your existing speedo won't fit the newer fairing.

Oil change problem (kind of long winded)

You beat me to it Chevy!

Oil change problem (kind of long winded)

First off, congratulations for taking the brave step to do some work on your bike! An oil change is a good first job to get your teeth into - not too hard but you'll get e little dirty and feel great for doing it yourself and saving some cash. Secondly, you've come to the right forum - tons...

    Drifting bikes

Nice vid Martin! These guys make me think of Ken Block, just on 2 wheels instead of four (or actually just 1 wheel a lot of the time!) That wet qualifying lap was awesome too!

    Trip to Europe

Are you taking the autoroutes in France? Don't forget that you have to pay the tolls and this can add up (although it's cheaper for bikes - but make sure you pay at a booth with a person, not the automatic card machines, or you don't get the cheaper rate!). Some toll stations have a special bike...

    How to change spark plugs

Finally swapped out my plugs after 32000kms on the originals! I probably should have got round to it sooner, but everything was running fine. Good link to this how to helped a lot (especially the advice on being patient!). The old plugs actually looked in perfect condition. I swapped them for...

    Throttle body sync

Been doing loads of work on the bike the last few weeks - spark plugs, oil and filter change, and thought I'd better get on to syncronising the throttle bodies as the bike has just passed 32000kms. This how to was very helpful! I hired a carbtune (way cheaper than buying one that I'd probably...
