I did a 5,000 mile ride this last summer on my FZ. 1000 on the first day. Here is what I learned from my trip:
1. make sure you have lots of tread on your tires. I had to replace mine part way through the trip and it sucked.
2. Get a camelback for your tank bag. Being hydrated is...
In Phoenix it seems the same as anywhere else, everyone drives 10 to 15 over all the time. Usually I like to ride a little faster and keep in front of people, especially when they are being stupid. If someone is swerving all over the place I don't want to be behind them where I might get...
I've had this happen to me a couple of times. I think that it is just that I am not shifting all the way through the gear. I usually don't worry about it, just make sure you shift firmly.
Yeah, make sure you grab that key out of the lock. I forget so many times to grab the key and I know that one day if I forget the key in the lock, my bike might disappear on me. That has already happened once, and I don't want it to happen again.
Probably just going a little to fast for the turn. I also decided to go for a nice little ride today, 305 miles, top speed 120 while passing someone. I also got onto a fun twisty road, of course behind some slow RV and I have to wait for a good passing lane. Just make sure that you back down...
My new seat just came in from Russell Day long Saddles. I was as giddy as a school boy when I saw the package by my door.:) I immediately ripped the box open and gazed upon the glory that is my day long saddle, nice and wide to accommodate my big butt. I went out and put it on my fz6 and had...
Sounds like a fun ride, I've cruised over to Thatcher on my fz one time for a football game, man that was boring and the bugs along there are horrid, at least in the fall. But I've always wanted to ride up 191 to springerville then over to showlow and back.
I was crusin' down the freeway doing about 80 and this guy on a harley passes me. I notice that he is not wearing a helmet, which is common in AZ because it is not a law, but I also notice that he is not even wearing eye protection! I thought to myself, this guy is insane. If I have my visor...
Well I've been riding street for about 9 years now. I started by getting my endorsement in WA and then moved to Phoenix. My first bike was a 1983 Honda Nighthawk cb550. It was a great beginner bike that I got for $500 from a friend. It was reliable and a great gas saver. I passed that bike...
Re: Milage Contest!
Alright I still got in. I'll be racking up a lot of miles this summer. I plan on riding from Phoenix to Washington State and back, plus some inbetween. My camera is not that great, so I posted up a couple of pics.
Before my fz6 I've had a honda nighthawk, kawasaki ninja 550, and a suzuki vstrom 650. The nighthawk was a great beginners bike, but was old and only topped out at around 100mph, plus it hurt my back on long rides. The ninja was a non running bike when I got it and I fixed it up, it was ok but...
