you either over tightned the valves or theyre too loose. its real easy to do that if youre not careful. check them again and check the fuel lines, vent lines, fuel flow/pressure, oil pressure and and air filter. might have something in your fuel line causing your fule injectors to clog or not...

dont go with the angled. it can off balance the wheel and come apart at speed like you had the unfortunate event of having. just go to your local shop and ask for the metal valve stem or the good quality rubber ones. I think its about $6 were Im at for a good metal one.

I did a bunch of internal mods and theres really nothing you can do (over winter) to get the stuff your looking for. maybe a dry shot of NOS but then youre lookin at blowing seals and maybe the rings cause the pressure as well as it reving higher then its limited to causing valve float. over...

I know it doesnt have to to with the gauge but if the sensor is in the tank or attached to the fuel pump then it does have a chance (with the high ethanol fuel) of getting stuck or damaged in some way (gas+plastic=disaster from personal experience). Its just something to try and eliminate a...

might also be the valves. If you dont know the maintenance then its a good chance there is some damage done regardless of what the previous owners says. Have it checked out by a local shop. Compression and leakdown test can tell you what it is. might just be as simple as your carbs or more...

plugging in just the gauge and not the pump will throw a fault code causing more confussion. run some fuel injector cleaner through your system, fill your tanks a few times. If that doesnt work then check the resistance and voltage of the level gauge at the plug
