My mod dilemma

i say do it.. if you dont like what he has done .. you have your stock parts you can put back on.. its free stuff...:cheer:how can you pass that up.. and if you dont like it.. you can trade parts on here... its a win win situation..:rockon:

It will be pictured all over his website. On the other hand...I may just be being stupid and accept the free parts and just mod some things away from his view of a great bike to my view of the PERFECT bike.

I have flipped and flopped from YES to a resounding NO in the last 2 days. Weigh in and let me know what you folks think...maybe you will see some pros or cons that I am not seeing. Or am I just being plain stupid and need a :spank:?????

If you can survive without the bike for however long he will keep it, I`d say DO IT!!! Even if you don`t like some of the mods, you can always remove them and sell them... or you can get the chrome (I hate chrome) powder coated for cheap... You really have nothing to loose, other than not having your bike for a while.

Live without my bike for awhile...hmmm yeah, I live in Northern Ontario, bike is in storage from late October until late April. lol I won't miss it much as I wouldn't be seeing it anyway, it would've been in the old arena stored for the winter.
I talked to him about the chrome issue I was having and he said most of the parts would be powder coated black or brushed aluminum....problem solved. I am going to send it down so I will keep everyone updated on the progress :rockon:

One word "Powder coat" ok two then, go for it.

I was just telling him that I shaved out the underside of my seat and it made a big enough difference that I raised the preload up on the rear shock. He got all excited about seeing if he could make a lowering link...it wasn't really my idea, I have noooo clue about that sort of thing. My bike seems to fit me fine now with the shaved seat, rear shock at 5 and my Icon Bombshell boots. I'm 5'10 myself.

You can actually ride in those? I have been wondering how they feel. Can you give a description, comfort, weight, etc...

But heres an update since then, weight? light as a feather. I have worn them exclusively since that day and the leather has really softened up on the front of the ankle. I have even worn them shopping lol, they don't really feel as tall as they look and while on the bike, you cannot tell you are wearing high heels.

I have only had one "oh crap" moment with them, I was backing out a a parking spot at a store and put my foot down on a plastic thingy ummm how to explain...you know the plastic part they put in behind the packaging on toys that they loop the twist ties through? Anywho, beside the point...I put my foot down on it as I was backing up the bike, and my foot slid straight out away from the bike about a foot. Its a gooooood thing I am tall because if I had've been shorter, I think I would have been wearing the bike.

All in all....I would recommend them to anyone (well ladies anyway) they are not as lethal as they look.

If you don't mind... how tall are you without & with these on? How rigid are they for ankle support? ty!
 
I would do it, but with the understanding that you are to either get all the parts for free and in a seperate box or that you get all the stock pars back in perfect condition. that way you can pick and choose what you want to keep.

5'10" without and just over 6' with (taller than hubby anyway teehee)

Side to side ankle support is great, no wobbles, front to back support at first was waaaay too stiff, now that I've put about 2k kms on them, they are much more comfortable without being floppy.

Thats exactly what I have decided. He is going to give me back my stock parts in a box when I pick it up. That way, the mods I do want to keep I know are on there properly as they were meant to be by the designer/artist/machinist?!? what would you call him...hmmmm.

Ahhh it makes sense :) Then do it!!!!

On a side note, did you ever post a pic of yourself on the forum? we have so few riderettes, that I am always curious :cheer:

With all the little privisoes, that have been mentioned, no chrome, old parts back, FREE, sounds like a oportunaty not to be missed.
 
I had a friend who got his car sponsored........ the company offered him all of this free stuff if he left his car with them, well at first it all worked out well because he had another car and disposable income but he came up on some hard times and needed his car back (they took it to shows etc) and when they finally gave it back they had blown the motor testing parts on it. Long story short he never got the money out of it he could have if he kept it himself and I just couldn't let anyone else mod my baby it's too much like that movie "indecent proposal"

but it sounds like it may be a sweet deal if you get all your old parts back and there is no "internal" modification.
