I found this image in a bunch of pictures from my past, although I may have posted it before.

This is me, summer 1979 (age 17) with my 1978 Kawasaki Z1R. I know, a teenager with a liter-bike, a recipe for disaster. But, I survived this one and many others. Anyone else with some tin-type images of the dark ages out there?

definitely a cool picture...serves as a reminder of just how little experience I have. So I was born in '82 and didn't start riding until the 21st century....I guess that means I can't play :( How did you get into riding to begin with?

sportrider, post up what you got...I won't complain :)

Here's one of my first bikes:

It's uhh...a pocket bike.

My wife uncovered another jewel today. I attended the California Superbike School at the old Riverside Raceway in 1982. They had a photographer there taking shots, and a few weeks after the event they mailed proofs of the images to riders for possible purchase. I declined to buy the pictures as we were on a tight budget and simply filed the proofs away. They disappeared into the wilderness of boxes of family photos, never again to see the light of day...until today!!

The scanned image attached shows me going through Turn Six at Riverside, with poor upper body form and about 40 lbs. less mass than today. However, this view can NEVER be duplicated again as this exact spot on Planet Earth would be about 25 ft. in the air above the north entrance of the Moreno Valley Mall.

I have a picture of me on my 1982 Seca 750, the red one, I was 27, but I can't get it on the computer. I really liked that bike but I had 2 wrecks on it in less than a year. After my last wreck on the Seca, I didn't have another bike until my present FZ6, which I just got about 4 months ago. I think I like this one even better.

Funny, I also had a Seca, '81 in black. I modded it a lot and put about 30K on it before selling it. Handled well for a shaft drive and pulled great wheelies! I still have the owners manual, and I'll try to find a picture of the bike soon.
