How often do you wash your bike?

Wash it? We're supposed to WASH it? That takes too much time away from riding!

About the only wash it gets is when I'm riding in the rain. The only washed item on my bike is the chain when I clean and lube it. I'm not a fair-weathered rider. Rain gear is in the tailbag every day that rain is called for. The season here is short enough. I'm not going to be a wuss and waste gas because some water is falling. :thumbup:

I wash mine about twice a month. Every time I wash it is rains, maybe I should wash it more often?

The last time I washed it the lawn guy came the next day and blew grass clippings all over it! Oh well :shakehead:

I consider washing your bike as part of preventive maintenance or PM.

Evertime I have found any discrepencies on my bike, such as missing screw or bolts was during a wash. It's important to see, feel and touch the enitre bike rather than just kicking the tires and doing a quick visual spot check. Just last week, I noticed a missing screw for my fender. In addition, as another memeber mentioned, it's much easier to spot for fluid leaks if the bike is clean.

Therefore, I like to wash my bike every week, but never goes past two weeks. I ride my bike every day since my FZ is my only ride. It's a pain in the butt too, just because the water quality here in Las Vegas is not great. The water is very hard, so you have to dry the bike very quick otherwise you will have water spots, leaving the bike looking much worse than it did. I also wax my tank, polish my pipes and headers, and put Armour All on the tires and rims, hoses, and anything else that is black.

I clean my chain and sprocket about every month or month and a half.

I wash mine after a few rides, which comes about to once a month or if I ride in the rain.

However I polish it after ride regardless of rain or shine. I like to stay gleaming.

At home she's in the garage and at work she's covered so she stays pretty clean. I still wash her every couple of weeks to get the bugs and dirt off.

I ride my bike as a daily commuter, such as it is, I only wash it after I've riden in the rain or when I happen to be near a carwash. Sometimes, I let the cheerleaders do it when they are having a carwash to raise funds. Far be it from me to not let pretty girls wash my bike for me......GRUMPY

Wash da bike? Oh yeah! I love how it can look showroom-floor new after a quick detailing. And, like Vegasrider says, you can discover stuff missing, etc., because you're giving it a decent look/see. Frickin' license plate light...why does it burn out so often? Anybody else?

It is always garaged (now in the shed, we are converting garage to a master bedroom w00t!) but when it gets dirty I ask my husband to do it, because he will take it all apart and do a thorough job. I usually wipe it down after a ride if there is any moisture before we put them away.

This is about my average, only I spray it down with a hose every couple of days when they are gritting (salting) the roads.

I wipe the bugs off after each ride with a damp micro-fibre cloth.

Every 500 miles or so I wash it good and proper then clean and lube the chain.

It depends on the time of year. I wash it about once a week during the rain and snow season's. In the summer, once the bugs get thick enough to bother me. to me it's not so much for looks as for maintenance. I'm trying to get 100k miles out of it. we'll see how it goes.

unless I meet up with the rest of the clan for a breakfast run over the mountain pass (gotta look presentable when you park next to those fireblades)
