You need to look at the akuma helmets i am going to order one in i a couple of weeks they are awesome auto tinting shields and led lights for greater visibility for people behind you, with integrated power system and still lightweight.

For my two cents, I bought an RF-1000 Shoei, and I am very satisfied with the fit an quality of the helmet and it is much quieter than my old Bell M-4.

The only complaint I have with the RF-1000 is that it tends to fog when its cool in the mornings. ie below 70 degrees.

It is not too expensive, around 350 list if you go with a solid color, about $100 more if you go with a design.

I'm on my second RF-1000 and love it, but as it has been said you really need to try them on. If you find one that you like but it is a bit pricey just wait a little bit don't settle for one because its cheaper, I did that once a week later I was back getting the one I wanted in the first place.

I personally use a nolan modular. The only problem is the noise you will not find a modular that is quiet... I have glasses only reason I use it. but they are really nice helmets for the money. If you are looking for solid helmet then I would be looking at what has allready been said!

this is the helmet I have however it is a very close blue to my 08 fz6! closest blue I have found I cant remember the exact name, the color was only available in 2007 so I had to order a 2X and order the inner liner and cheekpads to make it fit right....
This is the one i have:

I wish we could put a wind tunnel in our store, if i could then i might actually be able to talk the average person into something better than an afx or z1r....

like i said i am ordering a akuma helmet i have a bell sprint right know the dealer gave me it with the bike. I only have 2 complaints with it, it is very noisy and it has the bell logo painted on it so i cant remove it without destroying the finish. When i get my akuma a friend of mine is going the airbrush the bell for me. I should look sweet when he gets it done.

I have the HJC CS-R1 helmet right now. Cost me $80.
HJC CSR1 Black Helmet

I bought the cheapest helmet in black I could find when I bought my new FZ6. I don’t know if it’s just me or if all helmets are like this one, but it is so noisy, and I don’t like the fitment or how it feels on my head.

I want to upgrade my helmet to a comfortable, quiet, helmet that will last a long while.

Any suggestions?
I bought two of these and love them Shoei RF-1000 it is the second grade Shoei. The ones I have cost $495 each. The racing model just above mine rated for 150 mph crashes is $595 each. They are light, good vents, expensive yes, but also suppose to be one of the best in the buisness. I don't always go this all out on stuff so expensive but in this situation I seen it has to do with chances on my life and well being in the event of a accident. So I thought about it before I bought a helment and seen it like this imagine needing a bullet proof vest. You know you are about to go into combat but you can't decide which option. The vest made of hardly nothing much more heavy and no were near as proving at stopping bullets for only 20$. Or a vest thats lighter allows for better breathing, cooler, and is much more proving to stop bullets for only 500$. Well it being a possible life saving choice I am spending the money. Now please I don't mean no disrespect. I just gave my opinion. Thanks take care. O and with the Shoeis on you were complaining about noise. I can talk to my wife behind me while riding and she and I can hear each other. If you ride awhile with you visor down and for what ever reason raise it everything around you almost hurts your ears cause they have come custom to the quiteness with the Shoei on and visor down. lol sry one other thing you slide a Shoei on and as your temp goes up in the helment it shapes itself to fit your head. Thats why some ppl tell you don't let no one where your helment if there head is bigger than yours it can mess up how the helment fits you. Sry so long reply.

When I was going to buy my first helmet I tried three different brands. I didn't look at the prices first, wanting to decide on comfort, hoping I would like the cheapest best. Of course the most expensive was the one that fitted me the best.
Since I've never regretted the choice, and now bought a new helmet, same mark, it was worth the money.

Every helmets are helmets cz they made by same or similar material in order to pass DOT AND SNELL...my personal advise is find the helmet that suite your head shape at the best & comfort...took me a while to found one...
I tried Shoei and Arai...and decided Arai Quantum insteed of Corsa air...
Shoei RF-1000 also awesome fitment for me but somehow I feel more comfortable and my skull said Yes for Quantum...
Friends of mine told me before I bought this helmet...is expensive...but untill now there no one can replace or fix someone head when they fall off..
Take your time to try and try again cz is the only thing that seperate your head and the road..
Happy hunting and congrat for new helmet...ride safe...

what do you guys think about a half face? What are the advantages & disadvantages?
I am not 100% sure about this but I have been told the half face you want to make sure is a Shoei because Shoei is the only one who uses metal to metal hinges. Other helment brands use metal to plastic or plastic to plastic which will bust all to pieces if you plant your face on the asphalt.
