HID Retrofit Teaser Pictures

So a little update - all done with the HID retrofit on my naked girl. She's filthy right now, and I haven't gotten any good daylight pictures snagged, so here's a taste of more to come.

Look at that sharp blue cutoff

The camera on my phone doesn't do this view justice.

Now to wash her and find someone to take some nice quality pictures for me.

It's the Morimoto mini DS2 - looks odd because the bike is on the sidestand. - it's normally pretty straight.

Is that little dark spot just right of center at the cutoff line something you can see IRL? That isn't normal. I've seen cutoffs do strange things when the D2S bulb doesn't seat perfectly flush in the bulb holder.

I've tested probably 100 different HID projectors since 2003 in my retrofitting endeavors. I've had issues with Morimoto fitment with the bulbs, had to shave/trim a few bulbs recently to get proper output. Just a heads up. :thumbup:

Yeah - that is IRL - and it's dead center. Hmmm. I am going to have to take it apart sometime and fiddle with the high beam actuator - it's a little bit sticky. Wish I'd realized these things before putting it all together, at least the high beam isn't stuck on all the time.

I'd be curious to see how you mounted the ballast(s) & relay. Probably harder to keep it tidy when you don't have an upper fairing to hide everything.

Yeah - it was easier than I'd expected it to be - I'll put up a build guide in a few days about it, but yeah, it would have been different if TRS sent me the right ballast (mine had a 12in cord and not the "streetbike kit prescribed" 24in one, so it's actually just bolted to the underside of the gauge mounting plate that came with the VS01 kit. The relay is back under the tank, sitting on the battery next to the other relays (turn signal and that one that is part of the battery cover). It's snug, but I didn't have to cut my harness or anything to fit it all back there.

I've already written an exhaustive thread about retrofitting a Morimoto Mini D2S projector into a FZ6N headlight
The ballast can fit snugly under the gas tank (just solder a HID extension lead between your ballast and bulb.
You can find a nice spot for the relay in the side pod (clutch side). You only need to lengthen some of the wiring

Oh - Fixed the cutoff - I had one of the washers/bulb spacers on the wrong side. All better now -
