Well today i went to the exhaust shop, and the new headers are on the pipe, just the link pipe to be fabricated up now....internal header diameter is 38mm, external, 41mm, up 3mm from OEM, where the headers meet the link pipe, the exhaust inner diameter is 48mm, which will soon mate up with the GYTR race pipe, which has a 50mm internal diameter...

Exhaust fabrication should be finished by Thursday, and at the Ceramic coating joint the same day.

headers, link pipe, and muffler, should be back from Ceramic coating, the following Friday, just in time to be mated to the finished rebuilt motor, if the new valves arrive, mid next week, as expected...

Getting damn close.....

Oh, by the way, the new headers look super schmick, nice and tight fitting around the front of the motor, nicely tucked up, nice and close to the bottom of the motor...with plenty of ground clearance...

Yep, only thing is, when i cleaned it up, i lost the GYTR stickers...should probably get some more...looks sup duper hanging off the side, and weight saving...oh my god, one 10 inch pipe, made out of lightweight Aliminium, compared to 2 heavy 14 inch long stainless pipes...

No baffles being made at this point...it's gonna get loud! But that lovely V-twinish burble loud, not a screaming in line four loud...should be rather intoxicating me thinks...

Got the completed exhaust system back from the fabricator on Friday....Took the headers straight to the ceramic coaters, and bought the Muffler home, for one last polish, before fitting to the bike.

Picked the rest of the bike up from the exhaust fabricator's today, bought it back to my house, dropped the non functioning "dummy' motor out, put the bike back on the trailer, and sent it to the shop that is building the motor...

Now, just a short wait for Ceramic coating to be finished, and hopefully a short wait for Replacement valves to arrive from Japan....hopefully as soon as Wednesday.

Then the bike can be finished, and put on the dyno...

Then have some base suspension setting's sorted, and get the bike out on the road for a bit of a "shake down"...

Oh, only one more thing, the "new" bodywork, seat & front fairing...which should arrive this week too....

It's so close, i can taste it!!!

Yes, i am very happy with the finish on the motor, but a lot of work has gone into that by the shop that is re-building it, myself, and a metal polishing joint i use quite a bit, for the stuff that i cant polish, or brush myself....

As for hearing it run, it will be loud! But hopefully loud with a true to TRX sound....

Well, today, my 10 new valves arrived! Went and picked them up and took them straight to the engine builder! Rang the Ceramic coating joint...Headers have been coated, getting polished on Monday Morning, will have them in my hot little hands on Monday afternoon.

Ok, on Wednesday, my "new" fairing & seat Unit turned up! Is secondhand, but it pretty incredible condition considering it's off a 15 year old TRX!

The two seats are pretty much perfect, in fact, they look almost new...especially the pillion seat, the brackets underneath are pristine, the base...pristine, the vinyl, original, and ..you guessed it, pristine!

The Paint on both the seat unit and the fairing was very good, but scuffed, and with a few minor scratches...but after about 13 hours with some Ulitmate cutting compound, some Scratch X, paint cleaner, and polish, both have come up like they are new....glass like finish, with hardly a scratch of any description in site! WIN! :rockon:

Even the inside of the front fairing is like new...not a scratch anywhere, and still glossy black all over! WIN! :rockon:

The headlight, which is tinted, unlike the one i have here already, is like new! WIN!

The OEM screen was a bit scratched, but that does not matter, as i have a new solid black race screen which is going on the bike, in it's place!

Photo's...Could'nt quite catch the "full gloss" effect, but trust me, it's near as new! apart from 3 small stone chip marks on front of fairing....

Ok, well, it's just about a done deal, the TRX project is very nearly complete!

Since i last posted, i have got the custom made, 2 into 1 headers, back from the exhaust Fabricator, and ceramic coating joint, they look super schmick, and only weigh 3kg's! WIN! The welding on the headers is superb...

The GYTR aluminium single race pipe, slips over the end of the headers, via a modified , and welded on stainless pipe, with the aid of clips and a single spring (not visible in the photo below), it is a snug fit, and it looks better than i thought it would, butting up against the silver ceramic coating...

This is how it all looks, back on the bike...

Now, as you can see, the motor is back in the bike! WOOP!

and i just love how it is come up....and that's good, cause it has cost me over $1000 just for cosmetic refurbishment...bead blasting of the engine cases, painting, and baking of said painting..., polishing and brushing other engine cases, like the rocker cover, clutch cover insert, oil tank cover, engine fins, etc...the result looks better than new IMHO...

Now, the motor ia refitted, and everything needed for the motor to run, is connected! :cheer:

So this arvo, the bike was put up on the dyno, for tuning....Carbies, Airbox, which looks like it is either going to be seriously modified, or replaced with K&N pod filters!!! As it seems to be very restrictive...we got 85hp from our first run today (Motor only revved to 7500rpm due to it being the first time run since re-build, it redlines at 8000rpm, and rev's out to 9500rpm). Whatever the case, the induction roar as the secondaries open up, should be rather raucous!

After we removed the airbox completely, and ran the bike up to 7500rpm again, we got about 93hp at 7500rpm, and a torque output of 89Nm, up the from 76hp/80Nm of torque of a Stock TRX850.

we think we have the carbies set up pretty well, with the right size needles, etc, it's just now a matter of fine tuning the carbies, and getting the air flow at it's optimum....there is a quiet optimism that we can end up with about 100-105 hp/95Nm of torque, once we get all that right, and rev the bike out to it's rev ceiling...

The motor has had everything that you can do done to it, without lightening the crank, or adding bolt on hp....

Compression is now up around 12:1, and this is due to head work, and the profile of the brand new Ivan Tinghe cams, which cost me $977!!!, this cam profile is not the same as, but based on the lift and duration of R1 cams...which run a compression ratio of 12:1.

Engine capacity is now 878cc.

30 Thousandth's taken off the block to get piston height exact, and about 10 Thousandth's taken off the head. Valve seats re-ground, polished, ported, honed, etc, you name it's been done!

Ok, i know at least a couple people are keen to hear how the thing sounds, well i got a crappy video today...

This video was taken at a moments notice, with my Iphone, AND IS CRAP, but you sorta get the idea.....excuse the first 20 seconds of the video having virtually no audio, cause i had my finger over the microphone!!! DORK! but the last 10 seconds is great, if you turn up the volume on your speakers! ))

I will take a better video with my camera when the final tune is done...

In real life, it sounds loud, deep, gruff, and totally intoxicating, like a good V-Twin motor should....

Oh, i forgot, it's almost 7 months to a day, since Mikey (Ozzieboy), and Me, tore the bike down bolt by bolt, and got started on this thing....it was the 19th of March!

It is confirmed...K&N pod filters going on the bike, inplace of restrictive airbox, stage 3 Dynojet carbie kit being fitted, am determined to get 100 manageable horsepower, without putting flatside carbies on, and spending an extra $1000+!!!

If i get 100+ HP, that will be about a 34% increase in horspower over OEM, and a torque increase of about 20% over stock! Woop! this should be one crazy ar$ed TRX!

175KG'S WEIGHT/ 100 HP, bulk torque...should pull harder than a 15 year old schoolboy! WIN!
