i have already done that...the spreadsheet is rather "impressive", but not as much as you might think, after looking at a list as long as that....

as for my time, well, when it's a labour of love, time is relative.

Either you are single or your significant other is very patient. When I did my TRX in London there were a lot of Sundays that I had to put ear plugs in to drown out the complaints from the wife. I did however, convince her to ride with me once. I am very jealous of your project and I have been following it and showing it to my wife - looks at me as says no way in hell. Congrats at getting this far with it and staying true to the original design.

Lol...single! I have a Missus, an ex Missus, and my 2 kids living with me! But all are very encouraging, and in fact, both the girls are very anxious for me to finish the bike, so I can take them for a ride...as I recently sold the only bike in my shed with 2 seats, to help finance this project...

The secret is to make your workshop a comfortable place for others to hang out...I have a lounge area, a bar, the Internet, and a dress up box in my shed!!! Yes a dress up box...the girls like to do impromptu "fashion" parades from time to time...

As for the bike, I set myself a deadline for the project, which has kept me on the job...deadline has passed, but bike is oh so close to done! So that worked. :)

My attention to detail re doing the best possible rebuild within my budget constraints seems to have paid off with the motor re-build, as the engine is delivering some very impressive dyno results!

I just wanna get on the thing now, so I can see how it rides, how my braking mods have turned out, and so I can get the rebuilt suspension sorted.

It has not been a cheap re-build!!! In fact I have spent just a little more than a TRX would of cost new in Australia...so about $12000!!! Exactly twice my original budget!!! But I do have a better than new TRX for my trouble....15kg's lighter, 35-40% more power, better brakes, and upgraded suspension.

Thanks for the nice words.

The frame has already been powdercoated white, as have the wheels, and the fairing's, seat unit, and tank are now all staying original....the paint on seat & fairing unit are in exceptional condition, as are the decals, it's only the tank that needs a bit of loving...couple of small ding's, and a wee bit of rust around the feul cap...an easy fix...next winter!

So the bike is 100% original in terms of frame, wheel, engine, fairing, seat unit, and tank colurs.

Still waiting for carbie kit to arrive, apparently it's in Australia, but even if it arrives tomorrow, nothing will happen till early next week, as the shop that is doing the work, are away tomorrow...

Waiting.....

re: Project TRX! A semi faithful restoration! Finished! Video & photo's now up! :)

Going slightly insane! I want my bike back, and i want to ride... Aint going to be till about Wednesday next week i reckon....pretty positive of that, but now it's oh so close, it is driving me nuts!

I cant even really ride the FZ6 right now, cause it's tyres are screwed, well, they are well past the wear markers on the sides at the front, and the rear is on the wear markers...and there is a Police blitz on bikes right now, so i dont wanna risk a $400 fine...

Everything is paid for, bike is being registered on Monday...am going to get a personalised plate...white plate, red lettering. I can get the numberplate in the following formats...

AAAAA 0
AAAAAA
AAA 000

Some plate number combination's i am toying with the idea of getting...That are available...

TRX868 ---- My favourite, and definitely my first choice right now.

TRX 868 ----My second choice right now...

WOLFMAN

YAMTRX

TRIXY

TRICK

YAM 850

868TWIN

850TWIN

Some input please....what does everyone else who is interested think...any of these, or something else????

Some inspiration would be great....

Woop! I am now the official registered and insured owner of a 1995 TRX850, with my personalized number plates ordered...they should arrive in about 2 weeks!

OMFG! Been waiting nearly exactly 12 months for this moment! This is number 2, of 3, in the "big moments" re this build... The first was the motor running again, which obviously has been, the third, might just be tomorrow...riding the bloody thing for the first time!!!

Excited much...I can't contain myself! Am bursting!

LOL! I stopped at the shop this arvo with Mikey, bike was back up on the dyno, and it sounded oh so good....even better than the last time i heard it.

Tuning was not quite done when i left the shop, a little more to do in the morning...

A Stock TRX pulls a maximum 76hp at 7450rpm, this TRX was pulling about 95hp this arvo at 9000rpm...so still a bit of jetting work, and sorcery with the ignition timing, etc, tomorrow morning, and then i will be picking the bike up at about 1.30pm...

I cant describe how good it sounded today, like a highly tuned V-twin in full race spec...

When i get it home, i need to change the engine bolts over for the Pro Bolt anodised black bolts i have sitting here, swap out the LED aftermarket rear indicators from the bike, and install the "new" OEM rear indicators with clear lens, and swap out the tail light with the "new" tail light i have sitting here, and swap out the blue LED dash globes that look crap, and replace with the OEM 7W globes....just getting little details sorted....

Oh, and i have to get busy with the razor blade and shave the excess gasket's from the engine covers....the gaskets are aftermarket, and a little big, and are green, so they need a little trim...more minor detail stuff..

But before any of that, i will be getting a base suspension setting sorted tomorrow, and going for a spin in the Twisties, to see how this baby go's!!!

WOOP! WOOP!
