New addition to the family...

Thanks. Now I want one.

Of course, if I got another bike (to go along with my Z1000 and Triumph Speedmaster) I think that my wife would divorce me. Wait a second. That'd be a win/win! :D

Wonder what Yamaha was thinking when they put that massive exhaust on such a great bike?!?!? Anyway, first thing I changed on my FZ1! Found a good deal on a MIVV Carbon Fiber Slip On. Purrs like a lioness and takes off 15 pounds, at least!
So I guess we'll see you on the 'sister side' now?

I'm gonna research it to death, but since you're here.. let me just ask: I've heard that putting a slip-on on this bike makes it pop like crazy and addition mods are required. What's your experience with this?

Congrats on the new purchase! I really like what you did with your fz6. I'm sure you will do a great job with the fz1.

For the popping part. Block off plates and PCV should fix most of it. But there always going to have some popping with an open exhaust... from what I learn from my 6R.

nice upgrade Eric,
Congratulations.
I'm not jealous.(really) I know how you feel, I was so excited when I went to the fz6 from my VTR.
safe riding

It pops a little when you let off the throttle, but it's not significant and certianly nothing to be concerned about.
But we did not gut the Cat and left the baffle in....I didn't want it too loud.

BTW, I love the gold forks.

LOL.. it's not April 1st. I'll post a pic of it next to my FZ6 tomorrow :D

OK, it's now "tomorrow" and still no pics! What's the hold up?

Also, lytehouse's lower fairing looks really good.

I am now jealous, but in a good way.

to anyone who owns the fz1. just curious how is it for touring duties. not the power; i know she has more than enough....seating position, pillion accomodation, tank range. i'm not planning a change but im always looking at bikes just for the fun of it!

Somewhere behind that exhaust is my new bike :D

Been drooling over FZ1 for a long time and finally decided the time was right. I've been doing mostly highway riding lately and as much as I love my 6, combination of zero wind protection and colder mornings (I leave the house at 6am) is getting to me. My eyes start to tear up 3 minutes into the ride. (of course we all know this is just a good excuse :D )

Really wish I could keep the 6, but I'm not willing to give up the ability to park the cage in our 1-car garage in the winter.

So the 1 is going to have to take over all of 6's duties. Already ordered top and side racks and touring screen is on the way along with many other little *necessary* mods.

Oh and I have no plans to cut down on my browsing time when it comes to FZ6 forum... you guys are my intarwebz family!!

That's a beautiful bike Eric, congrats :cheer:

That's a beautiful exhaust Brenda, I always hated the FZ1 because of its pipe, but that puts it in a totally different light

So you didn't do any other mods in terms of air or fueling? Just put a slip-on on and it's pretty good? That's awesome to know! I don't mind a bit of popping.. I kinda like it actually :D
