Two Crashes, One Road

In less than a week two motorcyclists were hit in the very same intersection. I can't find a news link to the second accident, but my friend lives in that subdivision and told me it was so bad they had closed down that whole section of road.

The worst part about this is that the driver is only being ticketed for a minor traffic offense. A lot of the local riders around here (including myself) are understandably angry. It seems like a huge injustice that this person will effectively get away with murder. Clarksville itself is a terrible town to drive in, and that road is especially bad. The speed limit there is only 45, yet everyone does close to 70. Clarksville widened that road a few years ago, so now everyone coming out of the subdivisions blows the stop signs and crosses 3 lanes of traffic without looking. This very thing has happened to me a few times on that road. I hope that two people (one dying) gets Clarksville off it's ass to do something.

Failure to yield?! Are you serious? Thats a slap on the wrist. Sometimes i wonder who makes these decisions.

My buddy was in a situation where a woman was creeping across 3 lanes of traffic to make her left turn, and pulled RIGHT into his lane. She could've made the turn if she wouldn't have hesitated, and witnesses said they heard her passenger yelling "WATCH OUT"

Well my friend swerved to avoid her, and in the process hit a telephone pole. So she ran her turn left red light, ignored her passenger, and pulled right in front of my buddy. When he served and hit the telephone pole his entire truck crunched and he put his face through the windshield. She got nervous when she saw him open the door and stagger out and spit blood and teeth out and she started driving, but stopped a few hundred feet down.

Where is this going you ask? Well come time for insurance settlements - the police determined my buddy was 80% at fault and she was 20% and he got a mere 2,000$ for his truck because of this neglagance (spelling?). Now we swear by it - next time just hit the person (of course that doesnt apply to motorcycles) because it would have been 100% her fault if he hit her. Instead, he hit a stationary object that put his face through the windshield, and was found to be 80% at fault for moving a vehicle unsafely (swerving).

What kind of justice system is that?

My riding buddy totaled his SV1000S when he swerved and over-braked to avoid hitting 2 deer in the road which caused him to low side into a ditch and fence, but he didn't hit the deer. As a result of no "evidence" of the involvement of the deer in the accident he was issued a "failure to control vehicle" ticket by the police and his insurance company tried avoid covering the bike. The officer told him "should have just hit the deer" Are you freakin' nuts?!
