hi everyone
im new to this forum so i think im doing the right thing here
i am 18 and passed my bike test recently. i have just bought a 58reg fz6 s2 faired version with only 4500miles on the clock. the bike is in excellent condition apart from puzzling corrosion on bolt heads and the metal section of the brake hose just near the brakes. it seems that most of the bolt heads of a particular kind as well as other areas of the typical black finish are covered with a white, crusty looking corrosion. I have tried cleaning these areas with bike cleaner, fairy liquid, wd40 etc, but nothing seems to work.
does anyone know what this is, why it has been/is happening and if there are any remedies other than either replacing the affected parts or painitng them again, with black hammerite, for example. ive tried to includesome photos to show this mystery but it wont let me upload them. if anyone really wants to see them just give me your email adress and i will email them to you.
some people may think im being fussy but im worried that the corrosion will spread and get worse - it also spoils the look of the bike when you look around it closely.
the other question is i want an air horn for my bike - how much will it cost to buy and fit a stebel air horn to my bike? is it easy? do you have to do any modifications?
