I don't think it's cruel if they don't get hurt and about half the guys I know would do the same thing if you put a can of beer in as bait. Most wouldn't be that surprised and go back for seconds and thirds as most of those squirrels did.:rockon:

I know a guy that traps and eats squirrels. I personally don't eat them because they don't have enough meat on them so they're not worth my time but maybe with enough of them you could make a nice stew. You know put some onions, carrots N taters in there. :rockon:

Try pasting one in a turn on your bike! Those creatures wait till you're coming and then run in front of you! The squirrels call it people launching.

Buy the way. I don't believe in any kind of cruelty to man nor beast but that video is funny!! :rockon:

:rof: I've seen that, and every other bushy tailed rat video on the web! They never get old though! lol I've trapped a few of the little buggers myself. They're quite amusing when they're angry. I'll post a vid I made later on, maybe tonight, depending on time available. It's an angry squirrel I trapped, that makes funny squeaking and growling noises every time I near the cage. I'll spare everyone the details of what happened shortly after.

Everybody's sense of humor is different.To me this is playing with your food.I mean squirrels jump 50 foot or more to the ground and run right back up another tree,and like Cliff said you see the same squirrel come back to the bait several times.Here where i'm from squirrel is a staple food in our diet.I probably have 20 or more recipes,and they are delicious!! :thumbup:

If the snake is poison the squirrel will die. Interesting thing about many snakes and reptile bites is that there is a staph bacteria that is very infectious and if you get bit you should get the wound checked out if the skin gets broken...

I caught a diamondback rattler once and it was a hot summer day. By the time I was done a piece of rope I used to catch it had gotten sprayed with venom. The rope touched my arm and within minutes with open pores I could feel my skin tingling. I ran inside and used lots of cold soapy water.

The snake was saved and released. It was going to be killed by others. It had like 15 buttons and was about 5 feet long. When it was pinned against the tarmac it turned black and was spewing venom everywhere that head could articulate which was every where. If that stuff gets in your eyes it's a done deal.

Squirrels are so nuts!! I run over at least one every year. They just sit and wait for my bike to get close and then jump out at the last second. Not just on the street but even when riding the forest roads at slower speeds.

The baby rattlers are the really dangerous ones.

A guy here in SD got tagged on the lip by a rattler about 15 years ago. He was gone in a few minutes.

When I see wild animal I get all excited and Lisa always yells, "You're gonna get bit you crazy bastid!

When creatures get wounded I have a knack for capturing them and then getting them to a shelter for repair and rehab. There's nothing I can do about it. Once I see a creature in trouble or stuck I end up in the mix. I don't go out of my way to capture them but if there's a rattler or a tarantula I need to visit them. Lisa's right, I'll prolly get bit one of these days. The tarantulas aren't really poisonous unless you're allergic but they really hurt if they tag you. You have to be respectful of their nature.

Tarantulas have a defense mechanism where they'll fan their back with their rear legs which sends those hairs into the air behind them as defense to irritate the eyes and sinus of a predator.

Here's one I ran into in New Mexico. A real pretty brown!
