I left for work at 05:30 this morning I was turning left from a minor road onto a major road & lost traction on the rear wheel, the bike slid from under me in a split second I managed to pull my left leg from under the bike & hobbled around for a while in shock a car drove by I thought "great thanks for the help" I then managed to pick up the bike I took a look back at the corner it looks like I lost it on a manhole cover I got on the bike & rode home.

I now have a day off work & a knee four times the size it should be.

The damage to the bike scuffed lower engine, front fork, clutch lever, mirror.
Newly installed R&G crash bung needs replacing.

Newly installed R&G bar end needs replacing.

Newly installed Stebel Nautilus horn needs replacing.

I NOW KNOW NOT TO UNDER ESTIMATE HEAVY FROST & MAN HOLE COVERS.

That is why I just don't ride when it gets that cold, no matter how careful you are, ice and sneak up and bite you. I hope you have a quick recovery.

The images do not show the injury in its full glory it hurts like hell.

I looked at the first picture and was like, "big deal". The second picture (although blurry) does paint a better picture. I'm sure you're in a lot of pain. But I will say you exaggerated a little, it's more like twice the size than 4 times. Just kidding. Heal up and don't be afraid to ride when it's cold. Be cautious though.

Yes, but that could just be hematoma and nothing else. I wouldn't consider that to be very serious. Painful sure, but you can basically go about normal business. That's not nearly as bad as fractured bones. .. and I hope that's all it is.
Ice the crap out of that thing, wrap it and keep it elevated.
