Serious helmet question...

Only a couple of years old but yes im thinking a new AGV K4 or T2 is on the cards , as long as its blue I have a "thing" for blue helmets :eyebrow:

Nasty stuff Humpy...never been caught in a hailstorm, but i can imagine it's like riding whilst a whole bunch of people throw frozen golf balls at you! Not nice....

I reckon your helmet might just be ok....

I just wamnna know how the hell you stayed upright, one of tghose hailstones under your tyre and i reckon you would be toast???

Holy schmoly, glad you came out okay! I've seen car paint jobs destroyed by hail; I would not want to be caught in that on a bike.

I'm not a helmet expert so have no idea about your helmet. I know it's always a tough call to replace a lid, especially when there's no visible external damage. Good luck with whatever you decide :thumbup:

Not for a distance there wasnt no there was 1 bridge but other cagers & a truck beat me to it :spank: probably rode 7-8 K's before I got to one when I got to a bridge with room believe me I stopped.. Thats when i opened the cracked visor & it snapped in 2 luckily I still have my old clear visor :thumbup:

Um, I don't think Humpy is afraid of anything. He actually loves riding in thunder storms. He's worried about his helmet, not his ability in the wet

Yeah I know , it was a little bit of a girly question to ask wasnt it I did however have a teaspoon of concrete when I got home & i've hardened up now :BLAA:



Yeah I was not really suprised , well I was actually but not at the fact that it cracked more the fact that it took so much punishment to do it... I talking dozens if not hundreds of direct hits I thought the helmet held up well myself with only minor scuffing to the surface :thumbup:

Stopped at Team Moto this morning on my way to work (yes another nice wet ride , but pleasant this time to ask then about testing for AGV in Oz & the crew there seem to think it will be fine... They had a mechanic get caught in the big storm that desimated The Gap a cuppla year ago & he sent his Shoei away for testing & came back with a clean bill of health :cheer:...

I did also try on a few lids while I was there , the AGV K4 Virus

feels real nice on me noggin' so they are gunna try find it in blue for me.... Or I think AMA warehouse have them in stock..

The mighty XJR is fine :drool: :thumbup: Now settle back in you comfy chair & pour another Rum ... The hail did work my mirrors & screen loose & she has the tiniest little dent in the headlight surround but no other damage , im guessing the fact that I had my tank bag on her & me laying on the tank to read the instruments propably limited the amount of exposure & damage :thumbup: Sure didnt help me any though :BLAA:
